Club Alleva Coppolo (Part 7)

You should know! I played her again today and took out the Sadowsky for the second set...Owen our sound guy came up about the third song in and asked me to play the Alleva...I made the switch and put the Sadowsky in the case at the end of the set...

I have some sessions this week and I hope to get a good chance to A/B them closely...results to come!

Thought you guys could use another Jonno couch shot...
Incredible neck,fantastic tone and a perfect weight...The B is focused and punchy and has a brilliance and sparkle I find to be rare...
I am digging the CAOJ and how under certain lights and flash she takes on an almost golden hue and others looks more like the pic from Jimmy's shop.

Wow! I agree, the fingerboard binding sets off the vibe of the bass in a HUGE way. The color and everything else is awesome. But man, the Bound fingerboard just says; "CLASS!!"

Ok, time for me to be a jerk paint nerd...

I'm and old school hot rodder from back in the day and candy colors are near and dear to my heart. There is no such thing as Candy Apple Orange. It's just Candy Orange. Candy Apple is red, only red, and strictly red, in the paint industry. That is all.

Man I wish I could afford to have an LM made with that same binding too, but in my case, I'd go for the pearl blocks with the maple neck on the LM. MAN those look nice!!!!!

LG for me, all nitro, classic sunburst... you know? Even if it is now impossible to get the DN board, and of course, dots and binding... Man, it makes me drool, ha ha ha.

I'm so dang traditional; I've always pretty much thought J basses need to be three tone burst with a tort guard...so, Vic, you already have the one I'd order new.

Shoot me now when I ask this question and lets get it over with b/c I wasnt gonna read thousands of posts. What is it about the AC jazz basses that there is such a deep following?

I must admit that I have never been a jazz bass guy BUT several months ago I was able to get my hands on a Sad metro. It was very uncomfortable or should I say I was uncomfortable with it. Towards the end (about three months) I was starting to feel it but ended up trading for a 90's Tobias. Now months later I am feeling that urge again for a jazz and am interested in the AC.

I have to say the headstock is not the best looking but there must be something to them for a 7 series thread.

Kind of hard to quantify, but the bottom line for me is that they just feel and sound "RIGHT!!!" I've had a few other great basses (Ken Lawrence, MTD, Zon....) and the AC's are just amazing when you compare them. The AC's are much simpler conceptually but Jimmy is every bit the luthier that Ken and Mike are - just going in a different direction.

I have a LG-5 and a KPB-5 and I can honestly say the only things I don't like about either of them is the color of the LG-6 (red) and the VVT knobs. I still have problems in a church setting where I am frequently turning the bass down between music.

If you were close, I'd tell you to come over and try mine before you buy (after you have the $$ saved up because you would not want to wait - VBG!).

I love the black & maple F/B on my Ice Blue RA-5.
But really love the pearl too. I also love Jonno's CAO
with binding and dots!!
The black blocks and binding just look SO good with
the ice blue...

Jazz basses aren't for everybody, that's for sure. The AC vibe is the vintage vibe. The various models emulate the pretty much iconic Fender specs (but in 5 strings if you want it) from the prime years.

My AC is my number one go-to bass. When I'm not playing it, in favor of another in my stable, I am always sad I didn't bring it. I'm currently waiting on my 2nd AC (5 string P style), and I'm trying to decide on the specs for my third AC to be ordered later this year. Yes, they are that good.

Get a volume pedal if the V-V doesn't work for you

I play my LG5 in church every week. We're having an extended worship service tomorrow night. I might be able to get my DB750 cranked up to 9 o'clock LOL.
