Yippee... post 1000!!!

If anyone else is having trouble with single coil hum of the 60 Hz variety (props to Vic), check out the Electro Harmonix Hum Debugger. Very effective for those times when ya just have to solo a pickup.

I've often wondered about these... how much do they affect tone?

There are 2 settings, low and high. On the low setting there is no effect on tone at all - at least not that I can hear. On the high setting the sound can get kind of compressed and weird. I have never needed to use the high setting, though.

Y'all need to try some Fodera Vic Wooten Nickels - killer on every Alleva Coppolo bass I've heard/played. LG5, LM5, RA5, LG4, all sound awesome. I particularly like the light gauge (.040 - .120).

All I know is, with all this string talk, and with Ed's clips, I wanna' try a set of LoRider nickels on my LG soon.

+1.... the SLAM factor on that LR nickels clip really stands out.
Kinda like A/B vs class D amplification. ... nickel to stainless LR's.

Does anyone know how much the LG4 Basic model runs for? I'm considering saving up for an Alleva-Coppolo, but I would only be able to afford the cheapest possible bass. Something along the lines of this:

LG4 Basic
-Plain straight grain maple neck
-Indian rosewood fingerboard
-Satin polyurethane finish
-Alder body
-60’s pickup spacing
-Sonic Blue “thin skin” polyurethane finish
-Hipshot tuners
-Vintage style bridge
-Parchment or Mint pickguard

Best thing to do would be to email Jimmy. He's changed the pricing structure a bit with the introduction of several new models (which are really just codes for certain configurations of options), and I'm not sure if anyone other than Jimmy has deciphered all of it.

Plus, he's super-friendly and helpful.

Haha thanks, I'm not ready to buy yet. I was merely wondering what the ballpark figure was. I'm thinking about saving up for a "going away to college" present for myself.

I'd say roughly equivalent or slightly cheaper than a US Sadowsky. That'll give you a ballpark.

Yes it does, I just love Sonic Blue on '60s style basses, especially with matching headstocks. Is that a mint or a parchment pickguard?
