Good point...my Fender is a four of course, and the Sadowsky a fiver. As far as on all strings, I did not notice.
Never having given a thought to the concept prior, I was surprised to immeadiatly noticed on the D and G strings. Never conciously tested for all strings though...very strange to be perceived so noticably.
What might I have overlooked???
Not sure. Could be the individual instruments. I again find the feel and tension of the G to E's on the vast majority of Fender's I've played (even the cheaper ones), and on virtually every Sadowsky I've played (and the few Alleva's I've played) to be great.
Hey Ken, I am running it 4ohms right now, when my s210(4ohm) comes in I am going to be running 500 watts per side
which is essentially the same as bridging the amp into 8ohms.
2x500 watts into 2 separate cabs is a lot more flexible than running into a 410 8ohm cab, either way its still utilizing the
1000 watts.
Cool! The 500 I'm putting into my 4ohm S212 is killer!
Sorry for the OT guys. I guess to justify a little, the Alleva through the TecAmp stuff is just about as perfect as you can get for a clean J bass tone IMO.

Do you think regardless of weight and cost the Puma is a better amp then the Glock?

I would like to know how it compares to Aguilar and Ampeg stuff.....? Is it tube-y sounding at all or moreso modern MarkBass-ish........?
Somebody mentioned that Jimmy was going to add descriptions to his site. I think that will be really helpful, I was having trouble knowing the difference until I was really serious about owning one. And not sure I still fully understand.
Way back in the thread someone mentioned LG (Larry Graham) and that was the 60s model. I don't think he's the first to come to mind when I think 60s J but that was how I was remembering.

BTW I never mentioned I had 3 sets of allen wrenchs at home and they all went down to 1/16, so now I have a 4th which inludes the .050. I also got to speak to Jimmy briefly on Friday after I got my bass and he seems like a really great guy. Going to try a few sets of his nickels...Honestly I've played EB Hybrid slinky's (4 string set) and would buy a loose B when I needed it. They were cheap and easy to get at local music stores. The steel DRs on the bass now are pretty nice too.

+1! looks like the Director missed the cue count or the PC did not slip the pre roll to the right Time Code mark! Larry did a decent job of lipping it though!

Ya know, even though it is a little off topic, I for one wouldn't mind chatting a bit about rigs we're using with our Allevas. I'd like to hear what basses are working with what rigs, and for what kind of music.

I've owned my AC all of 2 days so I didn't build a rig around this bass but in general around J bass style instruments.
My favorite rig is - Glockenklang HR / Sadowsky 410 or EA NL210. I tell you Ken's Tech rig seems to be pretty hot though.
I'm gonna guess you could get a much lighter rig then mine.

I have yet to take my Aguilar rig to Church. I wouldn't want to obliterate folks in the front rows. So, I have been using my Yamaha rig (BBT-500H and 2x BBT110s). Definitely a humble rig, but I gotta tell you it sounds pretty good.
I'm using a Genz Benz GBE1200 through an EA NM410 or a Wizzy 1x12 depending on the venue. The tube hybrid option works beautifully with AC tones. I can cover anything from heavy rock through to mellow motown with a footswitch between channels.
The wizzy 1x12 at 4 ohms, with a GBE and an AC is probably the best bass tone I have ever had.

I run my Alleva into a Neve 8801 preamp and then into a Bergantino IP310....Unbelievable! I also have a DB659 that I run into the IP310 at home sometimes and I am about to pick up a DB680 to run into the IP310 now. I used one into an IP212 before and it was fabulous!

I have to use the church's rig at most places I play - GK, Carvin, Peavey. At home or when I can use my rig it is a Glockenklang HeartCore into an Accugroove Tri-115. Or, it I'm lazy a Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 into the Accugroove or a Berg HT/EX stack.
It sounds amazing with the AC's.

Aguilar AG500SC and Bergantino HS210/HT112 stack. Currently enjoying this for most gigs and rehearsals. Punchy, clean, loud... just really solid. Best of all, it's relatively portable. I'm using this for jazz trio and big band gigs/rehearsals at the moment, but I can't wait for a pop gig so I can push it a bit.
