A while back there was a discussion about finding the right pickup height...has anyone found a "sweet spot" for the pickups on their AC's?
IMO, right where Jimmy sets them

I like the pics, Dan! The soft lighting looks great. Makes me want to curl up and go to sleep too though haha!
Ice Blue Baby.I am now the happy owner of Alleva Coppolo number B50033, "The Heart Breaker" (photo below).
Before I say anything about the bass I must say that I could not find a cooler guy to do business with than Jason Langley (BiggReddBass). In fact, I'm probably as excited about having a new friend as I am having a new bass.
During the decision process, Jason actually steered me to two other basses that he thought might be a better fit for what I was looking for at the time! He clearly cared more about helping a fellow bass player than he did about making a sale.
Anyway, although I'm sure you guys are familiar with this bass, here is a quick run down anyway:
Alleva Coppolo Limited 5
Serial #: B5 0033
2006
1 of 2 Walnut Tops ever made by Alleva Coppolo

Gold Knobs with Inlayed Tops
Gold Dunlop Straplocks
Handwound Alleva Coppolo Pickups
Alleva Coppolo 2 band preamp
70s Pickup Spacing

OK, the ice blue with maple fretboard looks great. How would it be without blocks and binding?

Uh... Dan... how did you get your hands on my basses?

Just my opinion guys, but I always have to tweak my pickup height, 'cuz there is no way Jimmy can set my bass up exactly the way I like it unless I'm there in the shop with him. New setup and new strings generally mean a different (even if only marginally) pickup height adjustment.
Less expensive and still beautiful![]()
Howdy guys!
I've spent the last few weeks flipping a few of my basses to try and snag that sweet vintage white/tort 5 string in classfieds, and didn't quite get it all done in time.
So, just signing in here in hopes of maybe getting heads up when stuff hits classifieds.
If you guys are as rabid as Reverend and G&L guys, that oughta work out for me![]()

Different (from Dan's) fretboard on that LG perhaps (or just the pic exposure)...
I saw this in the for sale post for that candy orange jiuce finished 5:
"If you guys want the AC mojo but without such a high price tag I would take a hard look at his NF ("No Frills") series. The NF he had at NAMM killed, IMHO."
I'd like to hear all about this. I don't see anything on his webstie about them...but, this has definatley got my interest.
Hey Everybody, The correct specs on the NF5 are:
'60's p.u. spacing, oil finsish maple neck and board, Aguilar 3 band, NO pickguard, NO passive tone, NO Battery compartment Black ONLY, import hardware. IT IS NOT A LM5!!! The body wood is NOT a choice it all depends on what I have extra laying around... SO NO OPTIONS, it is what is a no frills bass made by me at a lower price point.

Also, I think the candy orange LG is sold anyway.I saw this in the for sale post for that candy orange jiuce finished 5:
