I played a jam some time ago, where the bassrig were all Behringer. A Ultrabass 3000-something head and a 410 with alu speakers. I must say this sounded really bad. No headroom, no highs, no lows, no response at all. All IMO of course

try the paper cones they sound a lot better than the aluminum cones

Don't have an amp of theirs but use a BDI21 and BOD100 regularly. Tried a signal enhancer and didn't find much use for it on just the instrument, works nice for recording and PA use though.

Supposingly you can fix it by isolating the input and footswitch jack from chassis ground but my BX4500H is a $200 doorstop right now since that didn't work. Troubleshooting it is possible but a real pain in the ass as it's mostly SMT and inaccessible circuit boards. Shoulda gotten a Carvin instead.

I'm looking at a used Behringer Ultrabass BX3000T, to pair with a set of 2x10 and 1x15 cabs. The reviews on this site are all pretty favorable for this specific amp, but I've also seen other posts where people say "anything but Behringer".

So what gives??

I'm new to the amp/gear selection process, so still learning all the nuances.

If you are on a low budget you can't go wrong with a Behringer. It's the best bang for your buck.
But I would go for the BX4500H to get more headroom.
I have owned my part of amps over the years, both tube and solid state.
I recently bought a GK 1001RB-II to take over for my BX4500H. The BX4500H is 75% the tone of the GK and 25% the price. A nice bargain!

I have the BX4210A combo with aluminum speakers. Out of all the amps I tried, this one got the sound I wanted. I've brought it to gigs and have gotten (a lot of) comments on how good it sounds! I probably won't buy Behringer again, but this one suits me just great!

You tried, presumably, a good number of amps, and THIS one was the one that got that sound for you. You've received a lot of comments on how good it sounds.
But...you....won't....buy Behringer again?

OK, {hiding face in shame}
I had the ULTRABASS BX4500H---Great "punchy" head
the 410--HATED it! {Have HLF410 now}
I still have and use the V-amp pro rack....I really REALLY like it as a pre. The "tube" sim effect is great with a few tweaks. The "Ultra" bass effect is awesome.
Looking at putting a full PA together, and will probably get theirs since the $$ is right. I mean, I am in a bar band and play out for fun {have full time job} so why not....
