Hey Guys,

I don't mean to make anyone cry :) but i lost my job for the second time this year. The bicycle company i was working for had a very bas year and we sold 25% less bikes this year. About the same thing as what happened with the job i had before. I had some business project who costed me all the money i had put aside.

I have no choice, i need to sell my marvellous, incredible and lovely CB. It breaks my heart...I'm sorry Cliff i wanted to die with this bass....

so here it is, any help from you guys would be very appreciated

Was just cruising The Low End website and saw that Ivan Santiago's SC B 5 string is for sale. Don't know anything other than that, but I figured I would make it known. I am not affiliated in any way with The Low End.

Looks like a killer bass. I wonder how much it is. I'd consider it if it were a 6 and a different PU config than I already own. I can say I know it sounds good.

I have been talking to Cliff about placing another order, but I am not sure what I want. I would love to replace my 6 string that I sold with one that is a little less heavy. :help:


Maybe a short scale fretless 6 or 7 with a core and neck wood made of Padauk?

I must have misunderstood Cliff, cause I just found out the same thing after doing some research. Hmmm.....

I was originally thinking ash, but I am not to crazy about the way it would match the top wood. I would prefer a darker color core wood, and a non-maple neck.


Any ideas?

I'd personally choose the body wood for tone and not the color. I'm only saying this because darker woods are generally heavier. You could always have Cliff chamber the body for you though if you did go with a darker wood.

If you want a darker body and a non maple neck, you may want to consider a mahogany body and an ash neck. I've always imagined that would be a great combination.

There's a really light and resonant African mahogany (not sure if it's a true mahogany). My Stambaugh is made of it and pretty light overall.

Even though ash is lighter, it's a killer tone wood. I'm planning on using it on the upcoming fretless 7, which Cliff is gonna send me a price quote as soon as he gets back from vacation.

Sorry, I ment to say that I love the sound that I have gotten from ash bodied basses in the past.... just not crazy about the light color.

Isn't a mahogany body heavy?

Both of the basses I own of Cliff's now are chambered, and they do help enough for me to have this bass with that option no matter what I go with.
