Anyone have anything besides abalone for the "CB" on their headstock? There's a D-bass on Cliff's site that looks like it has a wood "CB". Anyone ever make a special request for something else?

I'd love to see Cliff make this logo from contrasting woods:

Downside will be your chance of seeing the CB in action will be like 40% they have two bass players, the main one/writer plays the CB the one who tours the most plays a pink lakland. He is good, but its not the same as the main.
I guess I've been lucky then. I saw them at the Castle Theater in Bloomington IL and it was the original, which is actually one of the main reasons I ordered a Bordwell. :)

I guess when there here next month I hope it'll be him again!

He is also one of the reasons im getting, hope cliff cuts him a deal since I bet a few people have looked him up after seeing his in action. And he's an freaking awesome player
Definitely, and a great guy to talk to, as well, even tho he does have to adhere to a strict rule about speaking in character voice. I remember him telling me the one he currently plays he actually bought used, or at least didn't order custom, but liked it so much he ordered another. At that point, after hearing him play, I was 80% convinced to get one. The icing on the cake was other stuff I've heard from other great players I've asked about them... mainly our own Tim Seisser, whom I still need to have a GTG with at some point.

PM incoming!!! :bassist:
PS. That parallel chamber bass has me itching for one of my own.

yep...down side is he dont play unwrapped anywhere id love to see him play more often. he has another day job that keeps him busy..but not playing live

Sounds like the batch is chugging along.

FYI, I'm getting a set of Curt Mangan strings for the 7. Of note, they can possibly make 32" scale low B strings. Not very expensive, either. I ordered a 130, 105, 85, 65, 45, 30, 25. My choices for the 32" scale 7 tuned BEADGBE may or may not need additional tweaking to get it right.

Are you going with through body stringing?

Interesting. Are you going with the Hipshot A style bridge? If so, seems you could have both stringing options and a wider selection of string possibilities to choose from.

Wow. That is quite the top! Fantastic.

I've mostly used toploading bridges. I have a few bridges that do both and a few stringthrough only bridges. Personally I don't notice a whole lot of differences, so I opted for a Hipshot A.

The top is turning out way better than expected. I can't wait to see it in person. I'll be playing with the DSLR and posting some pics of it, as well as my other CBs.
