Same on my 33" basses, at least for the B string, the E just fits.
One way round is to have the B string go through the body, tends to nip off at least an inch in over all length...

I'd imagine that a 33" scale bass would have been less hassle in this department. I can't complain, given that I got those Curt Mangan strings yesterday. I think I ordered them Thurs or Fri morning and they came to about to about $32 when I factored in 3 sets and shipping (CONUS).

Nice one mate, would love to try the Curt Mangans or Circle K's for that matter, but getting them over here in the UK is expensive...

Too pricey for me. If I knew I'd get on with them, a larger order would be cool, but to test them out, a little too much for a gamble, at the moment anyway.
I've been ordering strings from BassSpecialties' ebay shop, and was very happy with DRs up until recently, the Black Beauties I was using have started to get pretty inconsistent.
Just received some R.Cocco's in a slightly heavier gauge, will see how I get on with them for now, Fodera's will be next...

Understandable. I just restrung my Conklin and 2 strings are kinda dead. My Rob Allen LaBellas have a week D string through the magentic pickup (still perfect through the piezo, which was really the main goal).

I can't comment on consistency with Curt Mangan at this point. The strings on my 7 are good. The fact that I could get custom length AND they had a .020 and .025 were worth high premium to me. I'm just happy the strings aren't costing me an arm and a leg. I did give them a polite request to make an "alternative" to TI Jazz Flats since it's looking like I might be paying $100+ a set, especially if I get the long strings (5 string) and add a high c. I might ask/beg again. Begging is not beneath me.

Here is a picture of my wife holding my 7 string. To give you an idea of her size, she is 7 foot tall and weights around 275lbs. I would have been the one on the picture, but I was naked at the time :-)

Thanks man, I'm following what you are saying now.

This is one of the reasons I have considered going with the Hipshot Headless System on a 32" scale.

That, or string through the body on a Parallel Chamber bass. The PC bass will be a little thicker than a solid body Bordwell, so I'm thinking that might take care of the extra string length. When I have the funds we will find out.

Sorry to hear that dude, I've just found the tension on DRs to to be wildly inconsistent these days, and the string to string balance ain't great either, but it used to be fine, weird...

Those TI Flats are really nice strings, but they are crazy expensive, but they also last a long long time, so might be worth the investment? I've recently tried SIT Silencers on a couple of fretless instruments and for the price I thought they were fantastic, great fell and sound, with a good EQ you can get a pretty authentic flatwound sound all the way to a regular roundwound! I don't own a fretless at the moment, but when I do, I reckon I'll be ordering it with some of those on...

I've often thought about going headless and I currently have a Steinberger guitar. Ultimately I didn't because I prefer the ability to easily replace bridge parts or conventional tuners. It's probably a non-issue and I'm thinking way too far down the line.

I've had good enough luck with the DRs that Cliff normally uses. I'm in the process of reordering strings, so hopefully I'm not hit with some inconsistent strings.

You're probably right about the TI Jazz Flats. I might be making entirely too much fuss about them given that they last a long time. Given the overall cost of the bass, perhaps I'm being too much of a cheap skate.

I'm visiting my parents in Garden City this weekend. I grew up in Williston Park and Garden City. I know that store.
