Or at least check with Carey FIRST before assuming anything. I was told by Carey there are a LOT of different ways to wire it up.

Don't get me wrong, if the Auderes are a known quantity for you and you know you like them, then it's not really an issue, you'll be just as happy with it as you have been previously.

That said, I still say, if a Nordy preamp could be wired as you wish, I would recommend it over the Audere... especially for a Nordstrand pickup equipped instrument.

Just check with Carey... tell him what you like (and dislike if need be) about the Audere, and what kind of controls/sound you're looking for. He won't recommend his preamp if he doesn't truly feel it's the best choice. Heck, he even used Audere preamps in his basses before he had his, and I even think still offers it (that's actually where I played my first Audere).

Nope. Not exactly what influenced me to do this, but I like the fake f-hole. Did this on my Ball 4, although the matte finish on the fingerboard and faux f-hole was so I could have a bass that sounded much different than it looked. I was either drinking too much or having a mad scientist moment. :D

Oddly enough, my 4 is so light that people think it's hollow. Come to think of it, I might order a parallel chamber which doesn't even look hollow from the front profile. Odd, eh?
