Holy crap! I just got home from a gig. It was the second gig with both my CB basses. I am getting real comfortable and getting to know how to best dial in the sounds I like. They also play like a dream. I was having a love-fest with my CBs all night, then a musician came over at the end of the gig to tell me how much he liked my sound. The extra icing was his girlfriend who told me how beautiful my bass was. I was personally flattered for a brief moment when I thought she said I had a beautiful face. Hey. I can dream, can't I?

I just really wanted to say how happy I am with my CB basses. For the first time since I came to Talkbass, I find myself no longer looking in the classified section. Last time I did, I asked myself why I was there.

I am considering a 32" scale tuned EADGC with the possibility of adding a high F, but I'm not too thrilled with using a plain string. Does anyone here have any experience with a wound F-string?

My 7 is tuned to E, but the .025w sounds fine. I'll try to make a note to try it in F. Even at 32" scale, E, and .025, it sounds kinda thin. Still decent. I've heard some really thin and sitar-y sounding stuff, which I wanted to avoid.

Curt Mangan. Several companies make a .025w and .020w. The added benefit was that they'd make me a 32" scale low B and E string for my 7.

Curt Mangan makes some nice strings.
Sound similar to DR nickel LowRiders but ma little stiffer in my opinion.

Sounds like a plan. They're good strings. It helps that they were about the only company Cliff and I could find that could make the high strings as well as shorter winds on the lowest strings.

Just my opinion, but it's upside-down. The neck needs to come out of that lighter section. Yes? No?
