I was looking at the neck joint on one of my basses tonight, it's a work of art for sure.

The cool thing is each bass's neck joint is a little different because of the wood choice.

My new bass came!
It is very comfortable to play, and sounds amazing with the Lindy Fralin Pickups!
I think the neck wood is maple and Padauk wood, and it makes for a very snappy response. It might be my favorite neck wood combo.

Apparently my new 34" six string SCB build is starting up now, spanish cedar body, maple neck, some kinda lovely pink/tan wood flat fingerboard. Dual coil Nordstrand series wound in the sweet spot, custom white pickup cover / ramp, white knobs (passive), white face dots, satin chrome hardware including the lollipop Hipshot tuners... wanted something simple but unique and tailored to my playing and aesthetic. Will post pics when they trickle out! This is my second CB but first custom spec, I've had a 32" Dola sixer for years, I'm gonna string it E to E soon.
I came up with this idea and put it together this weekend . I have never liked hanging my basses from their headstocks and have limited space on my music room floor , this was the solution , all the bass weight sits on the shelf ( I need to figure out a better cool looking shelf pad ) and the head sock just sits nicely in the hanger hold
ing the bass in place with no tension on the neck joint . My new little venture is called "On The Wall Solutions" ( haha) The basses are happy !

Took the fretless Ball out on her maiden gig this weekend, playing at church on Sunday morning. Since we use in-ears and there's never a problem hearing myself, it was a pretty ideal environment for fretless...except when the tuner I use for muting has a dead battery in the middle of service and the signal disappears 
Anyway, she sounds spectacular! I love the "bloom" on the notes that fretless brings to slow songs...
