Can I ask how the flat fretboard feels in comparison to other sixers you've played with a standard radius? I've been playing 6+ string basses for 19 years, but I've yet to try one with no radius.
For me it is hard to really feel a huge difference because most 6 strings , at least the ones I have owned have a very minimal radius anyway , visually I can see it while I play and it seems as though it adds slightly to a comfort easy to move around level , some folks have said after playing the flat radius the would never go back , this CB bass I have is very comfortable though. Sorry im probably not much help but the difference is not huge for me.

That's actually right on the money for me too. I actually prefer a flat board, but I do have 2 CB's with radiused boards. I always do a flat board when it's over five strings or fretless.
So... I placed an order for two new 6 string basses for a CB bass build 18 months from now! They are going to be twins, one fretless and one fretted.
The twist is that the fretless is for my son!!!
I can't wait!

I'm not 100% settled on specs yet, because I have a SC CB bass build starting the first of the year 2021.
I'm thinking something like this...
Both 6 string BIG McNeely's
35" Fretless with lines
32" Fretted
Mac Ebony or Gabon Ebony tops
Alder or Spanish cedar bodies
Ebony fretboards or Bloodwood
Maybe some bloodwood accents on the basses
Definitely Lindy Fralin pickups, no preamps

It all sounds cool, but I think you might have a difficult time finding enough Gabon Ebony for a top...as cool as that would look. Macassar Ebony would probably be more of a possibility. Then again, I could be totally wrong about that!
Just re-found my Bass Gear Magazine review of my Ball 5. In case you'd like to read it. I rec'd this bass in August of 2011, so it's going on 10 years old now, and I still LOVE this bass.

I must have read your review of that bass at least 7 or 8 times over the last 10 years...I can't believe it's been almost 10 years!
I'm not saying it's impossible, but I suspect it will be very difficult to source...particularly if you are looking to have it be all black. Ultimately, Cliff will guide you in the best direction with woods.Then again, I know you know this even better than I do!
