Club Bordwell Part 4

I sent the email, we'll see what he says.
I'm thinking semi hollow, f hole(s), fretted 30", Novak BS-DS pups, and a piezo in the bridge. Hopefully with the buckeye I have reserved. My hybrid top amboyna is slated for a solid body Dola. We just nailed down the details. I'd hate to call an audible on that one at this point. We'll see what he says.

Looks like it's been done by at least 1 builder…

Finally getting back out there ( the Dola likes it too ) , feels so good and we are booked for the summer here in Central Oregon just as much as we wanted to be , Thankful !

Good job...your trio sounds great! The Bordwell sounds great too! Nice playing. How are you liking the new strings on this bass?

I would love to have a deep hollow body Dola like Anthony Jackson's current Fodera signature, but I suspect that's a bit to far from what Cliff's normally doing for him to be comfortable trying it...

Cliff and I have discussed something of the sort in the past. The most recent idea we have talked about is a SCB shape with the same body dimensions as his Parallel Chamber option, only the core would be solid Sitka Spruce with a full facing and back of some denser wood species. This would have a high C-string and possibly an F-string above that...more of a solo bass type of thing.

I finally had a chance to listen to this, very cool man! I would have loved to seen this.

Man, a six string like this would be killer... you got me thinking now. I got three on order now, maybe I can bribe Cliff for something like this but as a SCB.

The Nordstrand 3 band active/passive/with passive tone control pre and the Nordstrand Big Rig pic ups wired in parallel sound so good and combined with the alder body and pau fretboard , just a great tone in my opinion .

I really like the Infield strings

Who else has a build in the works right now? Looks like a couple roughed out alongside mine (six string fretted with Spanish Cedar body... 3d printed pickup cover / ramp, if you are following his Instagram)

I'm getting excited. I think it should be done next month? Or maybe a bit later...?
Say more about this 3D printed pickup cover/ramp!

Well sure! It's a 2.75" x 5.00" ABS plastic cover, flat top as I'm getting a flat fingerboard, with a Nordstrand dual coil within. Pics attached. Printed on my Elegoo Mars resin printer.

Very cool. Love it. I'm doing carved wooden ramp/covers on my next build, but this is the first 3D printed ramp I've seen. Love working with Cliff. He's open to helping you to achieve your vision!

Decided to dump some dough and try these strings , I really like them allot . The tension and the physical feel on them is fantastic on the 32 scale Dola 6 , the C string is also just a bit beefier than the standard gauge and the B string is just a bit more narrow , super spendy but so nice and comfortable and they really sound nice and I am trying to get used to the purple tuner ends but I really like them.
