Spalted Birdseye Maple I believe.
it might also be "stabilized"... even the light part looks kinda' dark. my birdseye board is also stabilized (tho not spalted)... he can order it that way from his vendor. not sure the exact process, but it's supposed to get rid of any of the potential for figured wood to warp or move due to the figure over the years.Spalted Birdseye Maple I believe.
It's Acrylic Impregnation, the wood is treated and then baked under pressure, I believe.
