Actually. I'm considering a third build with a more traditional look and sound, but still 5 string with the 32" scale and no fancy top wood. Hmmm. Maybe a TS Signature Alder body, no top wood, but with a Redwood or Thuya Burl pick guard. That might look cool.

What I'd like is similar to facebook. Start out with a thumbnail thing, and you can either pick/click the ones you want to see bigger, or, once looking at a bigger version of a pic, you can go forward and backward by clicking or arrow keys (or both) at whatever rate/speed you want.

Like the sound of that, pardon the pun.
Cliff was talking about trying a bolt-on model, might be a good idea for a more trad look and sound?...

The only problem with that is the 32" scale 5 string. Cliff can chime in if I'm mistaken, but I'd be concerned with the B string with a bolt on 32" scale. His deep pocket set neck with the Maple/Wenge/Maple neck works pretty well. I'd be too afraid to mess with it.

I've got 3 bolt-on 33" basses and the low B is just fine on the 5 and 6 string ones, I also have a 4th set neck 5 string and the low B is exactly the same, I think the largest contributing factor to getting a good low B is the skill and experience of the luthier and sensible wood selection, regardless of the science that people love to parade around on the subject without actually trying a shorter scale bass.
I reckon Cliff could make it work :cool:

+1 with a mild qualifier.

A good luthier can make it a moot point, but I think at the same time, it's fair to say it is easier to get a B string to sound better with a longer scale.

Trip Wamsley has an 8 string Alembic that's a 32" scale and the B string on that bass lacks NOTHING.

Undercover Double gig bag for my Big McNeely and SCB. Both are 32" scale, and there is some extra room beyond the headstock.

Got it at Bass Central ten years ago and still with no rips or tears.
