Many thanks for the comments - I can't wait to play it... and yes, it is a serious neck, exactly what I want though as I currently play a Warwick Thumb 6-string (broadneck) - but the Clement will definitely take over from that on completion, it's what I've been wanting to move to for some time now...

Hi Folks - I thought you might like to see the birth of a new baby from Tom Clement Basses...

Tom is making me his first-ever 7-string fretted (wide-neck) bass and this is a picture of the neck (prior to truss-rod insertion and fretboard glueing) compared to a Clement 4-string.

Diversity, the name of the game. Could there be a double-neck bass looming in the near future for someone out there?

When Tom was working on mine, he mentioned the 7 was for someone on IOM? I assume thats you?

Nice groove and nice sound! I especially like the scoopy sound of the lower end. I'm assuming you ran this pretty much straight into Garage Band w/o efx, EQ.

yup, straight in to Garage Band - and that's with a Glockenklang preamp with a blend pot. So I have the pickups set at full blend and have the relief on the neck so there's not as much tension on the strings...

Yes, you've guessed right... The 7-string is also UK bound!

The Snickers compartment has been summed up perfectly in the photo - you just need that little extra sugar and peanut combination to successfully run one of these beasts...!!!

Here are some more photos of the 7-string progression, firstly the cut-out front of the body, showing the neck and Bartolini pickup routing...

Is IOM big on finance / banking like we are? Are you a bone-fide part of the UK or just a Crown dependancy with your own regulations and Government like us?

The Isle of Man is big on finance and is a crown dependency like yourselves. It has its own government and regulations, etc., etc.

Thanks for the comments about the top - it is a great piece of walnut.

I have always used Trace Elliot, the carpet covered middle series, which I think are the best - I have an GP12SMX series 300w head running a 250w 1 x 15 and 200w 2 x 10 with HF horn.

177 It isn't going anymore...

Its gone!! (just checked USPS - Its just left the USA!!)

In the (hopefully) safe hands of the nice men (and women) of the United States Postal Service! ETA?? Maybe another week.

I've got one of the newer (peavey) Trace rigs, 1000w head, 2x10 with HF horn and 1x15. Its really good stuff.

For sure, can't wait! And to get her through the trace, I think that'll be pretty special!

Music wise, I'm a mixed bag. Mainly rock / metal / funk.

But love disco and motown too
