Just got back #189 from Tom. He put a new neck on it for me. The original neck was fine, but I mistakenly asked for a 12" radius, and then discovered that I really wanted 16". Thankfully, Tom was willing to build a new neck, (at a reasonable extra charge) and this one is exactly what I wanted. I do kind of miss the original mahogany/maple, the brown neck looked awesome with the wood combination, but... there's nothing wrong with a good strong piece of hard maple. The bloodwood fingerboard is pretty, and the sculpt of the neck, and fret work is excellent. I didn't have the bass long enough to tell if there is a significant change in tone, I would assume there is a difference. But it sounds great, and I can't remember how the old neck sounded anyway, so whatever. This one feels way better to me. Now, I have to learn how to play 6 string. Thanks again Tom!
