With no Shadow of a doubt, one of the most beautiful Basses Tom's made, and yes that includes #177, which (IMO) is pretty hot too (what? Me? Biased?)

Sound clips to follow once he reaches home (for some odd reason "this little guy" seems to fit rather than "she" or "her" ).
Also have some proper ampage on the way thanks to arcangel6 (Phil Jones BG 150) and Tom himself (Nemesis NC210 combo).

GBM - #196 is going to be a looker! Is it hollow or solid body? Why the switch to Ebony?

Not at all.
Running everything through the PC and out through a set of desktop studio monitors.

I keep looking at the Pics of the Little guy and keep getting REAL bad GAS! I know I should be happy (and I am) with the 2 I have, but TLG is so damn pretty!!

Roll on July and (fingers well crossed) a decent pay rise, and possible promotion!

Thanks, nofretz. #196 was designed as an airy but clear orchestral type instrument. The maple neck got re thought due to several factors and through the events of this build and meditation and prayer and discussions the change to Ebony as the fret board was inevitable. Tom and i have also settled into changing the maple neck to a black limba/wenge design to carry this ebony board. The spanish cedar lends less weight, and acoustical, airy feel to the notes timbre and the walnut clear warmth and eye candy appeal. I am interested to see the final characteristics of this instrument outcome. Almost forgot - #196 is solid.

Looking at your new Phoenix body wood while in the vertical, I strongly see a golden picture of clouds and sea at sunrise. Marvelous.
