Club Clement (Part 3: Post your basses here)

I read in an interview with Mo Foster a few years ago (quite a few, actually), he said that no matter what bass he played, whether he played his Kramer alu-neck or a Fender Precision, that he sounded like Mo anyway.
Now, I have a few basses that Tom has made for me, and I think they sound slightly different each of them. It would, however, be very interesting to do a recording of my basses played by me, and have someone else record the same things on the same basses. Then we could A-B and see how big a difference it IS between the basses and between the players. And whether Bart Classic/regular or Nordstrand Big Fats or Dual Coils really make all that big difference, or whether it IS the fingers that are the main difference!! :-)

Thats precisely what my guitarist says.

If Clapton picked up his PRS Gold Top, it would still sound like Clapton.

I'm not convinced though, When I had the 'Wick, sure - the chops and licks were mine, and they sounded like me, like I had always sounded - and that wasn't what I wanted to sound like.

With the Clements, I play the same stuff, with the same amps and FX - but I now sound like I want to and I have more versatility in what I play and how I play.

It would be very interesting to experiment as you suggest Mr Walker - but possibly not practical.

I do wonder how feasible it would be for you to provide your original recording (with appropriate notes, keys and scales) and possibly a bass-less backing track and see what other members do with it - sort of Chinese Whispers with Clement Basses!

Or perhaps a slightly different experiment -
Supply a track of Drums, Guitars , Keys (and whatever else) but NO BASS. Make it available for the Club Clement-ers to add in the Bass line(s) and publish for all to hear how the same start ends up - and how different or similar it is!

Let me think about this for a bit! :) Currently, what I have recorded for Tom's web site, are all bass songs *lol* So then I just have to provide the keys... but I guess that's not really what you had in mind, was it? *hehe*

Oh, I sent Tom my latest recording, a live looped version of Rio Amazonas, it should be up now. It's a mellow tune, and all is played live using a Roland RC-2 loop pedal and my Clement Anne bass. :)

I'll look into this when I get home from vacation :)
