The upper fret access is great on both of these. Due to the construction of the neck pocket, there are no limitations to the upper fret access. The cutaway is also deep enough to make it easy to get up there. :-) I included a photo from Tom's web site below just to illustrate the neck pocket.

That's a great action shot! I always admired bass players who can actually sing at the same time. I'm capable of doing so too... provided the bass part is open strings and long notes *lol*

Fortunately, noone really wants to hear me sing anyway. :D

:) Cheers - I was only singing a "Woah" though, it was the only backing Vocal in that band (I was just standing in for a gig) - I guess the photographer got lucky!!

I do a bit more singing in my main (well - only) band, but sometimes, to separate the vocal from the rhythm is near impossible!

And yes, I agree, I really admire people like Sting who can actually play nice bass lines while they sing the lead vocal.

About lucky shots... in the band I played in during my college years, I also sang backing vocal on two songs... in all the years we played. I have only one live photo from that band, and of course... it shows yours truly singing. *lol*

Lol indeed!! that photo, I was in the band for 3 rehearsals and 1 gig. But who's photo goes on the local website and paper? The singer and founder?

ME!!! The temp stand in!! Had to chuckle!!

So off to rehearsal, get the trace fired up and spank some funky shizzle out of my 2 beauties!!!

having not played a 32" scaled Clement, this is guessing a little... But they are acknowledged for a tight b- string. So I'm assuming tuning down a half or while step shouldn't be a problem. Just use slightly thicker strings and there shouldn't be any difference as far as I can imagine. :-)

Don't know about 32", but I had to Drop D tune for the stand in gig. I was using #164 (34") and though the 'feel' was noticeably different with the looser, floppier string - the sound was not. Just a bit less attack, bit more sustain. Tone was pretty much uncoloured.

There's always a lot of dreaming going on in this thread. I'm considering my next build already, even though it's bound to be 3-4 months into the future. I'm sure there will be two more projects for me... a fretted 6-string solidbody and a retro short-scale instrument. But we'll see. :-)
