And then I want the convenience of MIDI, and not having to add the outboard MIDI-controller from Roland on my bass. It's a somewhat cheap solution, but also somewhat visually displeasing.

I don't even know what it does you tech guys are nuts. I have been busy working on the 7 string today. Damn those necks are HUGE!

Basically, its a stompbox that you just put on the cord between the bass and the amplifier, and it gives you another loose cable to connect to the synthesizer, and you can play synth solos through that, too

And I know those 7-string necks are like aircraft carrier decks!

Man, i cant believe how quickly its all coming together. It looks incredible and i cant wait.

I put a set of those strings on my Roscoe and believe it or not. THe .182 doesnt feel as crazy as i was expecting it. I mean dont get me wrong, its one heck of a thick string, but it does its job, the F# is nice and tight.

been browsing a little through the various wood species on ebay, and I think that Jacaranda looks mighty sexy.

I know it's maybe a little over the top, and it's not exactly cheap.... but beautiful, you have to admit!

500 + shipping from Asia... so I'm pretty sure it won't be that. But I'd love something that's flaming between light and dark.... macassar or Jacaranda... or something else. Time will show. I think hunting is part of the beauty of this process. So I don't really mind hunting a little on and off for half a year (will try not to drive Mr. Clement crazy, though)

You know how to handle difficult customers, no? Just tighten up the price quotes when they wander too far off the beaten track.

Thinking back through the projects I've had with Tom, there are a couple things to keep an eye on. First of all, keep in mind that you get something that's long enough for a bass body!
And also, insanely expensive tops do lead to an increased risk for failure... not increased risk, but increased risk potential. ;-)
