So Tom is building me bass #222.

It will be a headless 5 string single cut with 5 piece neck, 17mm string spacing, using Bart dual-coils (as suggested by Godsbassman), with black limba body.

Having a blast working with Tom. Thanks to all for the input regarding pups.

Welcome to the club, #082 Hankenstein, and welcome back, #012 mjspt531 (aka scranton531) :-)

Other than the tight string spacing that sounds very interesting! :hyper: Congrats on what I am sure will be a very cool bass.

You Sir, now you have my attention!
Do you have any more details to share? Scale length? Body style?

lol. 34" scale. one of the smaller single cut bodies, can't remember the name.

I want something I can travel easily with that is actually playable and sounds good. If I'd seen a Zon VB5 for sale, I probably wouldn't be doing this but, Truth be told, I think I'm going to like this better than a VB5.

I'm pretty psyched. This will not only be my first custom build but also my first absolutely brand new bass in more than 30 years. Bought everything else used.

Very Familiar!

I did have a couple of other New Basses - one was a pretty high end W*r**k. I sold that to fund Clement number 2 - and never looked back!

Your comment and Nofretz6's are very reassuring but exactly the kind of things I'd been hearing about Tom when I decided to check him out.

Imagine my surprise when I he told me he'd not only be finished building the bass while I was still young enough to remember why I wanted it but I wouldn't need a second (ok third) mortgage to pay for it.

And he's great to work with.

Definitely!!

Absolutely!!

And he's great to work with.
Not only did I get 2 fantastic Basses, but I've also gained a friend! One of the nicest people I've never met in person! (YET!!)

I keep trying to convince the wife we NEED to visit Florida!
