Thanks for your answer Mr. Walker.
I wanted to go for a real wood sound and I'm afraid we can't obtain it with the Hipshot Piezo bridge. It is still to bright. My opinion of course for what it's worth.

Hmmmm did you consider testing out the graphtec technology that gives "acoustic" sound from such a bridge. Some sort of preamp solution. I'm getting a fairly wooden sound from my Phoenix by using the stellartone control to roll off a little high end on the piezo and using flats.

There are so many parameters going in that its hard to tell which will work for which player. Just offering some thoughts.

That Graphtec stuff is really amazing. But I'm not sure if it's that what I need. Most of their examples are on guitars. So I've contacted them with my questions. Now we wait for their answer.

Mr Walker, You've GOT to do either of those myrtlewood tops! They are simply amazing!! I wish I was in the market for another Clement build-I would let you pick whichever piece of myrtlewood you wanted and I'd GLADLY take the "leftover"!

Also-some really nice black limba floating around-it very reminiscent of spalted maple but I would think its easier to work with because spalted maple is very soft.

The second part is with the Q-tuner (magnetic) and piezo 50/50. The third bit is with only piezo and with a little roll-off on the stellartone. The rest I have no idea, that's when I just got into the mood and started going wild. This bass speaks to me, you see *lol*

I am into a Jacoish tone, though... so I may not have tried to create the woody tone you are looking for.

I really like this! Beautiful bass. Everything about this design seems very well thought out from the nice shape of the body to the heelblock to the placement of the 24th fret in cutaway(baffles me how many highly respected luthiers don't even get this right). Very nice work and I'm sure it sounds fantastic!

Congrats, that's fantastic. I see a little flame in your limba. Its going to look really nice with the oil finish, it'll really bring out the figuring.

It's my first bass ever with flats, and I've got mixed emotions about it I mean, the bass obviously has the sound I'm after, but I'm not sure I like the flats

This thread is almost the only reason I ever venture out of the depths OT any more and this post is one of the reasons why it's always worth it . MrWalker, that was some fantastic playing and the tone was to die for! And, as always, massive props to Tom for another amazing bass. I don't think you guys know how badly I want my own custom Clement now! Don't get me wrong, #170 is still the most awesome fretless I've ever touched (and I've gotten my hands on some really nice basses), but I'm just not a singlecut kinda guy. The tone is to die for but I just can't seem to get with the look. Shallow, I know, but just one more reason to order one . I get giddy just thinking about it, lol.

I also did get an answer from Graphtec and they assure me that I can get a woody upright sound with the ghost saddles in combination with the Acousti-Phonic for bass. I think I'll go for that.
I'll keep you informed.

My #195 has a Graphtec / Ghost and Seymour set up with 1/4 rounds. Nice tone. But it is chambered which may help with the mellow tone.
