Congrats Santiago! I'll bet you're just an eensy bit anxious to jam out on your new bass.
I've enjoyed watching all of the other builds here progress, so here's Photo number two from Tom. He's got the Swamp Ash,an accent Verneer and the thick Myrtlewood top glued up. He may even have the bass ready for a test run Thursday. I'm excited to see things coming along.

That's a really nice looking bass Santiago. The grain on the fingerboard and ramp are beautiful.
Indeed, I'm more than happy with Tom's work of art! I want to check out that little knot(?) (big grain line-like thingy) on what looks like the 12th "fret"
and btw Mr. Wraith I want to see your bass too! what kind of sound are you expecting from it?
To be honest, I am going to have to hear it. I don't have an expectation so much as an anticipation. I Have quite liked the sound of various basses I've heard with the Big Singles, and in all the Clement Basses I've heard, I've not yet heard one that I didnt like the sound of. Tom says that I should get awesome Mwahh from the Katalox fingerboard. So in short, my anticipation is that I will get great Clement Fretless sound with plenty of Mwahh as voiced by the Big Singles.. I'll definitely be recording some high quality sound samples to share once I get the bass and build a relationship with it.

Tom just sent me this photo of the neck glue up for #248. As I'd mentioned in earlier posts, the neck is black limba and the fingerboard is Katalox. There is some nice flaming in the grain which is more visible in the photo of the blank by itself, which I've also included. I look forward to seeing what it looks like when it's all shaped and finished, I think it's going to be a real eye catcher.

How about an 8 string Clement? F# B E A D G C F. Ash body FRETLESS even. Would be Tom's first. Kicking it about. Not yet officially a project in blood yet but I think Tom has found the finger board already.

All I can say is Wow! Tom sent this photo of the work he's done on the body for #248 today. I am so very happy that I decided to go for that nice thick Myrtlewood Top. I'm totally psyched!

This top gives that bass a more 3D impression. I love it. Congrats, you got good eye for wood and a good wood for the eyes.

just might have to go back to 7 for simplicity and $$ wise. 8er seems to be from the drawing board on and getting scary to me. A 6 with an added F# string may be all I need. #195 is fretless and F# to G but I primarily am use to that high C string being there.

Wow... Just Wow, and wow again. Tom put a long day in today and just sent me this photo. This bass already looks so freaking amazing I can only imagine the finished product. I am really really happy with how all of my selections are coming together visually. It's going to be rough waiting to touch and hear it myself.

Heh! I used the same expressions : "wow...just wow" "looks amazing already" and so on
and I get the katalox purpleness comes out after the oiling cause it looks brownish atm , with some interesting grain tho!
and BTW it is coming along really fast! congrats!(?)

The great thing is, I'll be happy with any variation of tint that comes from the oiling, The Brown looks great, and so does the purple I've seen. The grain on the top & fingerboard are both the bees knees as far as I'm concerned.
