I love the look of #249 being made from a single slab of claro walnut.

Someday I swear I'm gonna be able to get one of those made for me. 4 string fretted, mirrored P pickups, series/parallel switching...someday!!
All I gotta do is pay off 2 mortgages, my law school student loans and put 2 more kids through college!! Yippee!!!

I feel half of your pain! Only one Mortgage and one kid through Uni! Oh - and Have to manage to get the wife's shop turned around and making a bit o' cash, rather than eating all of the spare!

I'm really really happy about how this wonderful creature is taking form!

I've named her "JoAnne" (my own personal nick name for her) as she's sort of a hybrid between the Anne and the Jon shapes. Was supposed to be a Willow, but since I couldn't make myself take off all that lovely ebony and make it double-cut... it's gonna be a JoAnne instead :D

I updated the member list a couple pages ago, we have a few new basses in progress but no names to hook them up to :-)

The reason the knobs are located a little forward is to make room for the Roland GK-3 control unit. I'm getting really excited!!!! :-)

And I am asking Tom not to do a fore arm contour on mine. It looks odd to my eyes to see the body wood wedge there. Belly cut only. Did this on my #196 Anne and like it very well that way. Save the wood top for full view. My arm does not touch the bass at this point anyway.

I agree with you. I have forearm contour on some, and not on some. however, this is going to be my main gigging bass. On my Anne and Lise basses, I don't have a forearm contour, and the way I play them, that's ok. But... I notice for longer sets, it tends to dig in a little. So this bass is first and foremost functional, and then the esthetics are second on the list. There's plenty of that, of course. The birdseye maple fingerboard, pickup covers and knobs, the ebony top... :hyper::hyper:

Tell us more on the Darlene, though!!! :)

Reading my own post makes me chuckle. My JoAnne is most definitely a work of art, don't get me wrong. I just meant that I've made my choices for comfort, playability and function to make this bass fulfill all my needs from my main bass. Its got the MIDI, the fore arm cut, headless, etc. Not all of those choices would have been made if I went for looks alone.

However, this bass will be another piece of functional art from Tom :-)
