you know, that bass you posted up here almost reminds me of the Pagelli bass:

Totally different... but still.... totally cool and the idea about the fingerboard flowing all the way from the head to the bridge appeals to me. On the Pagelli it's just taken a step further and integrated into the bass. :)

I think the magnetic pickup is recessed into the bass from the back. :-)

DUDE!!! That sounds Epic!!

I've seen all the Ghost demos and they look / sound amazing!

Got any pics of the Koa yet?

And a peizo only? My next Clem is going to be fretless (will be my first), chambered and peizo loaded - but I think I'd slap a couple of traditional pickups in there too.

Congratz - Lots of exciting things happening around here lately!

WOW that's gonna be a cool one. There are too many options. I asked tom about a thousand questions before we settled on 232. I wanted a bit of every bass he has ever done all wrapped into one. I look through his web page and I love them all. It is tough. Sounds like you knew what was going on with this order though. Talk bass just filled Tom's plate this week.....

Haha, everyone's getting a Clement! Those specs are looking fantastic bompabass! Just spending a little more time with #170 before it goes out later this week. It's gonna be a hard 3-4 months or so without having a sweet fretless in the house but the light at the end of that tunnel is looking pretty bright :).

The Koa top is in the Gallery - Available tops - sold for 233 heading to Belgium. You'll find it over there.

Indeed piezo only. I was crazy about bass #063 that Lincoln sold a while ago so we're going for that sound. First I wanted a wooden bridge too but after some thinking and reading and discussing and recording #217, I noticed that the Hipshot Ghost loaded piezo bridge was already quite nice. So we decided to keep that bridge but to improve the sound we added the Acousti Phonic preamp and the Stellar tone controle.

#217 is with piezo and magnetic pups and she's quite versatile. The LaBella tapewound strings give her of course a warm, mellow sound. So if you put on other strings (rounds or flats) I think you'll gone get more the normal bass sound as we know it with the possibility to get a more acoustic sound from the piezo. The piezo makes her very sensitive. A hard attack gives a strange sound (noise) but can be used for certain effects if you like that.

Yes I know. There are to many options. This is going to be my second TC and my 5th bass. My first custom (a Custom Mayones) had as much options as possible. To my humble opinion it makes it more difficult to turn on the right knob. Now I only want simple basses anymore that have their own character and sound. If I was younger and my hands were bigger and more flexible I would go for an upright. Because that's not the case I was looking for a sound that was getting pretty close to an upright. And pretty close is just fine by me because then it is still a special and unique instrument, being a bass guitar with a unique sound and even not yet an upright. I believe with this project we can achieve this goal. With #217 I have already the attention and with #233 it will be the same.

Davey, cool quote... there are two statii in the Clement Club: In and out of build :D

I had a friend over at my house yesterday, and we played around a little with my basses. And I picked up my little four-string Lise (#089) - the electronic bunny. She's got a 18V Aguilar, a set of Nordstrand Dual Coils, and a Hipshot piezo bridge with a Bartolini piezo buffer connected. And I had Tom install a "piezo roll-off", a separate passive treble roll-off tone control that's working only on the piezo signal.

This bass is capable of most tones "in the book". That 18V Aguilar is HUGE. I'm thinking this must be the direct opposite of my Tundra IV and bompa's bass above here. There are two individual balance controls, one to balance between the magnetic pickups, and one to balance between magnetic/piezo, and it just gives the most impressive array of sounds. It's just an awesome little bass. And her shedua neck, stabilized alder (or ash?) fingerboard, mahogany body core between a beautiful accented koa top and black limba backside just makes her a beauty to hold and play. A magic little bass. :)

Just had to brag a little about her. She's the cute lil one in this picture, next to her bigger sister, the Anne :)

Congrats to all of you guys ordering your Clements. Hope Tom's okay down there in Florida.

Kwesi, your redwood looks killer. I started out with the same body combo and switched to padauk. At last I'll get to play #227 out tonight. Will try to get some pics, but its a less than ideal bar gig with a miserably small playing area. Its a gig though. :)

Tom, the couple of people that have gotten to #227 have been super impressed. That black limba neck is always what generates the most comments. Glad I went with your suggestion there.

That padauk and Black Limba is beautiful but didn't you tell that she's rather heavy?
