It's sure been silent, but I believe several are "in build" as you just recently called it, Davey :-)

I'm also in build, but there are still some uncertainty to the wood combination. Still waiting for woods to be settled in and completely flat.

I also need to decide on whether to really stick to the new Slim design or whether to make it single cut. It just "hurt" to cut away and lose all that Ebony!

Ooooooh, I've got some pics :D!

I am BEYOND hyped for this bass! It looks even better than I imagined and it's not even done yet, lol! Can't wait! It's been kinda lonely since I sold #170, haha.

that looks dead sexy!
You probably already posted before, do please excuse me for asking again... But what mic are you putting in there?

It would be sexy with a big pole pickup in that position :-)

Edit: cool, two pickups back to back! Cool!

Lol pickup (mic = microphone), sorry :-)

Haha, no prob at all. I was between Nordstrand DCs and Bartolini Quadcoils but I chose the DCs just to see how they sound in that kind of bridge heavy position. Plus it's easier to find Barts used if I ever want to change. I had solid covers ordered just because I dig the super clean look that they have. And they'll be paired up with a Bartolini 3-band pre :).

Also, I decided that instead of having the bridge pickup right on top of the bridge, to have it pulled out a bit to the Ken Smith bridge pickup position. Hopefully it''l thicken up the sound I want but still give me the growl I want. Another plus is that I think I can squeeze a MIDI pickup in there too if I decide to :). I want one of those MIDI bass systems at some point but that'll be al little while.

Man. It seems like that's coming together rather quick. That thing looks cool. I am curious as to the different tones you will be able to get with that pup layout. I'm wanting to see a new vid with that bass when you get it.

#230 is done :)

Looks like a winner, man! I'm sure it'll sound fantastic!

Yeah, it really flew by! I gotta order more basses before people start swamping Tom with orders, lol :D! Truthfully, I don't look for much tonal variation in fretless basses. I just like the sound of the bridge pickups but I like having two pickups as well so this placement should work perfectly for me :). And, of course, a vid will be made :D!

If #177 is anything to go by, you can get a lot more variation in tone that the p'up layout looks like it would give. I can't recall if the 2 Nords in #177 are wound differently for Bridge / Neck placement - but I'm pretty sure that I have one of each in there. You can get an idea from the review...

177 Review

@Kwesi - Dude I wanna play your bass too!!

@sdlstn - 230 looks fantastic!
