Keep in mind that this is a recording into garageband without any effects or eq on the signal. it doesnt do justice to how it sounds through my rig, its so loud. it still sounds like a jazz bass, only with more balls.

MIM Classic 60's Jazz neck
Hipshot D-tuner
62 style stack knob circuit
Hipshot B style Aluminum bridge
Pickguardian tortoise pickguard
Warmoth Ash Body, which i ordered without routes and routed myself.

a tractor bass would be very cool, i was considering it, but i already had the RWRP set from another bass, seeing as their not being made anymore (as far as i understand) and the fact that i wasn't digging the bass they were in, i made a new one. it was really fun to build, just hate waiting for parts.
A Tractor bass would probably sound better with original Hagström bisonics than with DarkStars. The bisonics have more bottom end than DS, which would work well with a jazz single coil. Two DS is probably a better combination than a DS and a jazz PU. Meaning, you made the right choice for sure! Fantastic bass!

Curious, has anyone here had issues with their Darkstar being microphonic? I can't even get 5 feet from my amp without feedback, and I can tap the headstock of my bass and hear it loud and clear from the speaker cab...
I had e-mailed Mr. Hammon a while ago and he got back to me with a list of symptoms to check, but all seems well. There is even wax residue on the pickup, it appears to have been potted properly...
Anyone?

Wow, I did not know Ibanez had DS as a stock PU. I thought it was only Lakland and Landing. Nice bass. I got a AFB200. Think they never sold it in the US, only in Europe. It's shortscale with a very deep real hollowbody (no centre block) and two humbuckers.
I never heard Ibanez did that as a stock option.
Certainly, many have been mod'd that way though.

I've heard of upgraded Artcores but I also heard tell of a small run of factory Dark Stars. Course that was on the internet. 
(I'll see if I can find my source again...)
FWIW the routing & drilling on mine certainly looks factory (no room to flip).
EDIT: Aaaand I'm an ass. Turns out my info "source" was a for-sale thread.

So, no, Dark Stars were not factory installed on Artcores. But lots of upgrades, as Chef says!
I guess it's not important where & when my Dark Star got installed - just that it was.

Mine are a little microphonic. Not to the degree yours seem to be. Not an issue for me....
Just picked up my first Darkstar pick up, a DS-3N. Anybody have a precision body with a DS route they would like to unload?
Yes, probably paid more than I should have but those things are hard to find for sale and I really wanted one!
