Club Dark Star

Doesnt look like im ever going to experience Darkstars. Ive still not heard anything from Fred, so ive asked Paypal for my money back.

Unless someone on here wants to sell me a DS that will fit a P bass ;) PM me!

To those who are lucky enough to have one- or more, keep on teasing me! sorry for kinda hijacking the thread!

I also, unfortunately, have had to file a claim via Paypal, as Fred has been unresponsive after earlier emailing me that he could provide a pickup within 2 weeks. It has been more like 2 months. At least i have my factory installed Lakland Glaub darkstar in my collection.

Another twist in the month and a half saga that is me getting a darkstar!!!

I got an email from Fred yesterday afternoon telling me he was shipping my pickup "today"!! In his email he mentioned that he had just taken on too many orders and he's a simple one man operation etc etc....

I dont know that i believe it 100% yet.... ill wait till the pickup's in my hands...

I also want to go on the record and let everyone know that my posts through this thread have been just to keep everyone in the loop- not to publicly have a go at Fred.

I too have a Dark Star on the way, and will have a P-Bass to add to the club soon.

When I went to Butch's site (Bayou Cables) I found the page, but it is grayed out saying that he is not taking harness orders at this time. Anyone know if this will change in the near future? If not, does anyone else do a P-Bass style harness optimized for the Dark Star?

I dont see why you need a prewired harness!

Its a P bass! Its not rocket science! Just buy a couple pots, a jack, a cap and 2' of cable!

The pickups have two lugs on them, just wrap the cable around it a few times and solder it, wire it like a normal P (use 500 ohms pots if you want) and your good to go!

I want one of Butch's harnesses for two reasons:

1) I have no idea what I am doing, and 2) Butch has thoughtfully designed a harness with optimal components -- chosen as best suited for the Dark Star.

If there was a detailed parts list for Butch's harness then I could have someone locally recreate it, but I can't find that information either.

Any ideas out there? Any contact address or phone for Butch?
