I would be surprised if there aren't more, though. I've seen a number of Lakland owners posting here from the U.K.

I like my Decade with rounds too. I go back and forth. Are you using nickels or steel?

I've never used coated strings, but they might be the ticket for rounds on a DS'd bass to cut down on string noise. I almost always use nickels now at any rate--though I have Sadowsky steels (won in a raffle at a GTG) on my Reverend PJ and they're just right.

Was curious how many folks have the active version of the Skyline Decade. Seems those are a bit more rare out in the market. Would like to know what the thoughts are on that upgrade vs. passive vol/vol/tone. I generally been a no-battery-please enthusiast, but Ive also been impressed with the 44-02 I now own and its ability to balance the pickup blend knob/active circuit nicely.
Or maybe someone point me to an existing thread, as Im sure this has been discussed...thanks!

I've been hoping someone with an active Decade would jump in, but I guess not:confused: I have the LH3 pre in my switchable ChiSonic equipped 4-07, and really love it. It's very versatile, and can be tweaked for days. My Decade is a single coil ChiSonic equipped passive model, which I love very much. I think the switchable humbuckers with the pre is a great option, but the singles on the Decade sounds better as single that the humbuckers switched to singles to to my ears. It might just be the location on the Decade though. I've never heard singles sounds so thunderous. Since I have a ChiSonic/LH3 bass already, the single coiled passive Decade fits right in there. I guess it's not a definitive answer, but I guess you just need to think if your 44-02 give you enough active options. To me, I think it would, but just my opinion. I hope this helps!

OK---so I put on Rotosound Swing Bass strings on my Decade and played it at decent volume in practice today. Man---do rounds sound great on this bass. A nice, warm, steely sound, sort of like my Hollowbody with Barts on it. It can even get biting with a nice edgy piano string quality. Rounds is the way to go with this one---it is one of the sweetest sounding basses I've heard. I love this thing with Darkstars.

I really like nickel rounds on mine...I'm sure I will go back and forth with Chromes on my Decade. Flats just fit the need right now, and Chromes are probable the closest to rounds of all flats. Love them both though! Love my Decade...totally stoked you are lovin' yours too!

I've got flats on my passive Decade and I hate to think of taking them off to try rounds. The sound, the action, the total sweetness of sound is not something I want to mess with... Like daddy said, "if it aint broke, don't fix it!!"
Maybe when it's time to change strings I'll try rounds... but NOT right now!!

Hey Markus, Maybe you need two Decades? One with flats and another with rounds. :D

Yeah...really both are great! Tough to decide, so back and forth I go!

Not happy with the hum, buzz & limitations of the passive approach on my Dark Stared Decade, I installed a Audere classic 4 band preamp.
I also took the opportunity to fully shield the cavity with copper shielding tape. Why doesn't Lakland do this???

Man what a difference! :eek:

Nearly silent even in single pup mode, total tonal versatility & best of all, it doesn't color the sound of the Dark Stars!
Yeah, this babe totally kicks a$$ now & I'm one happy dude! :hyper:
