i went back to flats on my decade,ive been back on my Sublime-Eric Wilson kick,
the decade has some great low to low-mid definition with flats, wich makes it a geat
bass for the dubby stuff.

Matty---this Decade has flats on it too---and really captures that growlly, snarly bass of Jack Bruce's EB-3 from the Cream days (with more defined highs). While my Ampeg V4B was on "11", I played the required (for me) live Cream version of "Sittin' On Top Of The World" (from the "Goodbye" album). The Decade/flats/Darkstar combination does way more than dub.
i meant it sounds great for dub, but i can really play any type of music
with it. the tone knob really brings alot of different sounds out of the chi's. im really curious how different greg c's passive decade
with the chi-buckers sounds.
i cant wait for the lakland gtg to try some of these crazy laklands out.
i had a friend over the other day that just sold his sg RI he said it was very simalar. ill ask him to give me a little more detail and ill get back to you.
These basses are wicked cool looking. To me they look a lot like a non-reverse Gibson Thunderbird - but maybe even cooler.

"Feelwise, the sg neck is like a circle cut in half. Not like the wider necks on the p's and the decade. The decade also seemed to be more balanced weightwise, but that could be remedied with a leather strap for the sg.
Tonewise, I only ever had rounds on my sg. It could do the deep mudbucker tone perfect, add a little bit of treble and you got an old classic rock tone. Mix in a bit of both pickups and you were in business. Do about 95% bridge, 50% neck and 75% treble and you had beatle bass. All bridge with a little bit of neck and a little tone, you had a jack bruce tone.
The decade seemed to be a jack of all trades. The neck sounded deeper and more distinct, probably due to the scale difference, kind of inbetween the mudbucker and a p bass. the bridge was a lot more barky, also probably due to the chi-sonics being a lot hotter output than the sg. You could probably tame it and bring it down a bit to the mudbucker with some flats though.
As i said before, feelwise its a different thing. The sg neck plays much more differently than anything ive ever played. its comfortable, but i got rid of it because id get more use with a p bass as a compliment to my stingray. "

that fretless scheff is so cool (well they all are). It has the decade pickup placement, but a more comfortable body shape to me. It's too bad that the Scheff didn't do better in production.
the original lakland body shape and neck are the most comfortable IMO the 1.6 neck is perfect to me. thats why im so in love with my new dual j
its got that vintage jazz bass tone in a perfect package.
Mine definitely has the Jazz neck dimensions---at least it feels that way. Thin, tapering from body to nut, with a flattened back.
I have to wait for the weather to warm up so I can take it outside to photo it in natural light. Probably on the weekend---calling for 50's---today we didn't get above 24.
Hey everybody - I found the wiring diagram for the LH3 for my active Decade on the Lakland site today - I have a mahagony body and the humbuckers so my tone was way too dark - tweaked the mid setting on the preamp and WOW - the bass sounds like a million dollars now! Can't wait to play it on my gig tomorrow night!
