Club Decade!

Got to get in on this one! I love my Decade and I still get a kick out of seeing the name (I won the "name the bass" contest way back when).

Here's mine (#23) CAR/alder/rosewood/matching HS, and DarkStars:

Oh yeah, I've seen your pics of this Decade before. Still a stunner. Don't hold back, though, I remember there were more!

I bought a Skyline Decade last month, and it's well-balanced. I also tried another one at Lakland to see how it sits on a strap, and that one was fine, too. Both are in the 8-9 lb range.

My Decade was waiting for me on the porch today when I got home. Poor thing was out in 18 degree weather for who knows how long, so I couldn't play it right away---had to spend some time warming it up to room temperature.

But after 1 hour, she was warmed up. I haven't played it for about 4 months and only had it a week before sending it off for a restoration. (For those who don't remember, I got this USA Decade, Shoreline Gold with matching headstock, on eBay. It had the original Chisonics removed and Darkstars were put in their place. There is a significant size difference between the two pickup types, so there was new routing done for the Darkstars---there were gaps, big ones. The guy sold it because he want a 1963 P-bass. Markus may be able to round up the before picture from the original eBay auction.).

Anyway, my wife wasn't home, so I took the opportunity to crank my V4B head to "11" to really try it out. Oh my, I see what you all have been saying about the growling Darkstars. They growl and snarl as my old Gibsons from 3 decades ago---only with more high end definition. I would have to agree with Barkless---this reminds me more of a Gibson rather than a Fender (which is fine because I love those old Gibsons). I tried it at lower volume too, where it sounds very clear and vintagey (word?). After 40 minutes of sheer bliss, I stopped, replaced the furniture to their original positions and straightened all of the pictures. I didn't break anything this time, so *shhhh*, my wife won't find out I risked the house for my pleasures---- heh, heh, heh *rubs hands*.

I have some questions about numerous things, but I'll go to the LOG for that.

It's too friggin' cold right now to take its outdoors pictures, so when it warms up a bit, I'll take photos and post them.

Awesome, glad it arrived! I'm also glad it's living up to our hype--I knew it would.:D

Leo was having car trouble and couldn't get to the office for a few days, I'm sure that's why your CC wasn't billed sooner.
