Cool man!

OK---I'm getting impatient for my Decade---just ran in to an opportunity for hooking up with a superb guitar player for a potential band playing blues and blues-based rock and I wanted the sound of that Decade to "put my best foot forward", so to speak, for an audition. I guess I'll have to go with one of my others. Drat...:crying:

it's a shame that lakland hasn't put up any soundclips yet of the decade with the chi-sonics.

i heard the finger ones played at http://www.talkbass.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=112517&d=1229877308 - but does anybody have any idea how well this would fit into a fast, aggressive pop punk or indie rock band, played with a pick? (i never slap or pop.)

i normally play fenders, but heard this isn't a fender at all in tone. any other descriptions?

thanks all!

Dan Lakin describes it as a "produced P" voice. I agree. It's a great bass for pick playing. Very thick which helps give pick playing some meat. Chi's have more midrange grind that DS. Perfect for the music you are playing.

I would describe it more Gibson like, meaning Dark & woofy, but articulate. Not the only sound but certainly one of the neck pickups characteristics.
Similar to this clip (SG Reissue)

Also listen to The Swaybacks song Forewarned which is rumored to be a Decade

I would agree with this completely....That is probably exactly how I would describe it if I had have thought of it first. It is a very "Produced P" sound. Meaning perfectly EQ'd, Compressed, and smooth sounding. I wish I could keep mine! The more I play it the more I like it! GREAT bass and GREAT company!

I wish you could keep it too! Well..if anyone is interested, you couldn't buy it from a better guy!

does it have an "aggressive" sound to it? that low mid warmth and punch, or something else?

Not as aggressive as an angry J bass, but a very deep throaty growl. It can shake the house off of it's foundations though. Like it doesn't need to be over angry to prove a point:-) It have such a big voice, it doesn't need to yell.

yea man... I ordered flats for my dj fretless. Though, Kirk told me they could do a thin acrylic coating if I want to use rounds (to protect the maple). I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet. I know my darkstars sounded great with flats. I'm sure these chi-sonics will as well.

staying with rounds on the 07?
