Club Decade!

Flats and Chi's mmmmm

Agreed...my Decade is just the sh&t with the JO flats that came on it....It sounded so good I did not even bother to put on the Sadowsky flats I have for it! This bass is really growing on me! There are many nuances to it that I am just figuring out. There is not a bad tone in it! Loving it! Wishing I could keep it at this point. THIS is the best feeling neck I think I have ever played! I wish al my basses had THIS neck on it...

Peace,

T

yea man... I ordered flats for my dj fretless. Though, Kirk told me they could do a thin acrylic coating if I want to use rounds (to protect the maple). I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet. I know my darkstars sounded great with flats. I'm sure these chi-sonics will as well.

staying with rounds on the 07?

Yeah...it had flats when I got it. Staying rounds since I pretty much always use that bass in humbucker mode. It needs rounds for a little more top, to my ears.

Maybe you should keep it! You could through an LH3 in there and maybe you don't need a 4-94?

What's up? Is it the economy? I can't save for a 5er if I don't know for sure that they're "lifers". I don't have Markus' kinda coin laying around.

It's has to be because this bass is unique in its sound and if it's not your sound, you're not going to like it. If you're expecting or need a Fender sound you're going to be disappointed.

Because of the high output pickups I would say this bass is more like my Gibson Les Paul Standard or my EB-0 than my son's Ric, which to me is a good thing. To others, maybe not so much.

The bass has a great warm ballsy tone, not the clankety sound or cleaner bass you get from a Ric, in my opinion.

I was hoping that with the pup placement, a Rick tone could be achieved, but somebody said no. :hmm: I'd LOVE to have a Lakland 5er that could pull that off.

One of these days I am going to have to go to Jive Sound and try a Decade with Chi's, but until that day, a Decade with Darkstars has a tremendous sound. I love it (as well as how it feels). I have flats on it and it sounded somewhat Fenderish, but more Gibsonish in the post-mudbucker days. But then again, it is its own sound, but I have always leaned toward Gibson over Fender.

How does a Darkstar-laden Decade sound with rounds?

Not a bad thing, just probably not for me. Might have to drive to Nashville (closest dealer) to try one out someday.

I had a decade with darkstars and it sounded a bit harsh with rounds. I had to roll back to the tone control quite a bit. Flats is where it's at on that beast
