Club Decade!

I have nickel rounds on my Chi'd Decade, but have flats on my Darkstar'd Glaub. I think you really need to try both.

I was hoping to avoid the expense. I do love the sound of the flats. Those DS reallyy define the sound of the flats, almost as if they were rounds. Maybe I'll just get rounds, and switch to flats when I am playing stuff in which flats are more suitable a sound (like traditional blues).

I thought about having one bass for when flats are needed and using the Decade for that purpose, but this thing is so much fun to play, I'd like to make it and my Kubicki the main ones to use when I go out.

Thanks Greg! I live in Bear, Delaware and I have five Laklands...if I lived near the factory I would be divorced and/or bankrupt...lol...I love the bass but my first set of Chi-sonics were defective so my tech is installing new ones this weekend and I should get it back tomorrow...Lakland's customer support is awesome - you get to talk to a human being if you need to, and Dan, John and Brian are great guys...

Now the Decade bass needs a few hundred gigs on it to earn its keep!

Hah, I live 15 minutes away and I'm not married, there may be a connection.:D I know what you mean about the customer service, etc.--everybody I've met there has been very cool! I've only bought one new Lakland (two used, all Skylines) and I always feel welcome there.

If you get a chance, please post pics of your other four.

My first impressions... kinda jazz-esque tones, but kinda not at the same time. Kinda P-bass tones, but kinda not as well. The Decade really seems to have it's own vibe going for it. It reminds me a LOT of my DiPinto Belvedere Std bass, both basses have some hot passive pups.

Very wide tonal range available from this bass & MUCH, MUCH lighter/smaller body than I expected. I ordered this bass without ever seeing one in person, nor playing one... and I'll say -- it won't be leaving anytime soon!!!! I guess it's time to update signature with a "Club Decade #13!"

What the total club count?

I think we are write at 13, so interesting timing! Yeah...I feel the same about the tone. It's like a great P bass, and a great J bass had a kid:-) The Chis have great range. Cant wait to get my JO CS!

I agree. It's definitely its own animal, which I really dig. Plus, it's unique enough that it clearly will not replace my DJ, so I can keep that!:D

The bass has a Gibsonish side to it as well. The neck pickup can get woofy like a mudbucker, but you can tame & clarify it by backing off the bass, unlike a Mudbucker. The front pickup behaves much like a mudbucker in that if you tend to crank the bass way up in your settings, your going to shake the house.

The pickups being really hot, with the mahogany construction give it a very warm sound that reminds me of my Gibson LP standard bass. It gets big balls when cranked up.
