ok, ive now tried my decade with 5 different sets of strings, ive found it to be overly bright with the stock lakland stainless steel strings. sounded great with highbeams bright but punchy. i had to take them off tough because some dippoopie tech slotted my bone nut to deep when i never even asked him to.(long story) but any way it started getting a nasty string buzz because of it. so i put on some flats, that took care of the string buzz and had a great thumpy vintage type tone, but they werent cutting through my band(hard rock). so next i went with half rounds wich were nickel wich really sounded great , a good mix of old school thump, and enough bite to cut through. but they have really high string tension, wich was a little hard for me to get used to.now i have some ernie ball hybrid slinky's and i think they might be perfect, i hope.this is getting expensive. i really think i may send it back to lakland and have them put a new bone nut in it so i can run my highbeams. but for now the slinkys will do.

yeah i know, but the only guy around is the one that screwed it up. he does great work ussually,and he thought he was doing me a favor. he has a hard-on for slotting nuts.he really does great setups, i dont want to offend him. i wish i had told him not to mess with it.but i didnt ask him to either. i just asked him to put the dr high beams on it when i had him put the new set of chi's in it(original pickup was damaged during shipping)he does an awesome job intonating. but he did alot more than a string change, he adjusted the truss rod, drilled out the neck screws, intonated it and slotted the nut. and he only charged me $25 for the pickup swap , and didnt charge me for any of the other work.

Personally, I like the ChiSonics more. More voice in the midrange IMHO. You'll love it!Nice, Squid! I have the Skyline version, and I love it. The Chis have growl for days, ahd the mahogany gives it some extra punch, I think. I really dig the sound of the neck pickup solo'd with a pick.
The finish looks even better in person, too. It really lights up under bright lights--you can't quite tell in this pic, but it looks really rich in person. Scroll down to the second shot; this was a GTG in a church last weekend, so the lights were really strong.
