Decade Chi's vs DS's:
(my experience with chi's is limited to decade, single coil)

They're more similar than different.
I have a DS in the same sorta neck position in my '72 Telecaster bass.

The Chi's might be a bit edgier on top; but not lots.

he drilled them out a little because they are self tapping screws, that way if i ever hed to take the neck off the screws will come out or go in a little easier. as far as undoing the plekking, no he didnt touch the frets.
thank god!! the nut is actually fine for everything but the dr highbeams for some reason buzz a little behind the fretted note up to the 5th fret.

The finish looks even better in person, too. It really lights up under bright lights--you can't quite tell in this pic, but it looks really rich in person. Scroll down to the second shot; this was a GTG in a church last weekend, so the lights were really strong.

That Decade was my first Lakland. I'm surprised it has sold so many times. I think it is on its fourth owner in less than a year. I don't know why. It really was a great bass and I still regret selling it.

Hope it works for you. Let me know if it doesn't.

It has probably spent most of its life on the back of a UPS truck, so it should be in great condition.

Seriously, it is a great instrument. I only sold it to pay for another Lakland, which seems kind of silly now. Hope you love it.

But aren't the nut slots depths a critical part of the whole PLEKing thing. I mean, too shallow and the open notes buzz, too high and the fretting distance is greater (strings further from frets).

Either way, I'd have been ticked off!!

Well, I think it was a string issue ... I had it strung through body and I think that damaged the E and A ... I put on a fresh set of Labella flats and avoided stringing through body, it works nice!... such a sweet thing this bass....
