Nice choice, man. I went to a mini-GTG the weekend before last; this guy had a sonic blue Dark Star'd Decade with mahogany body, blocks/binding and matching headstock that was fantastic.

Are you getting a pickguard?

Oh man. Markus, your Decade is definitely the hottest I've seen but that is the coolest right there. The sonic blue looks great!

I ordered mine mahogany as well, with a matching headstock. Rosewood board with dots. But I think the dots give it a more retro look to go along with the funky 60's shape of the body.

But did you hear the Chi's? I have a DS and a ChiSonic bass, and they are close. Chi's have a little more mids to my ear on my rig. Not trying to start anything here, just trying to save you some coin and time! Every Lakland I buy in the future will have ChiSonics.

I like them equally myself, I can't put one above the other. The DS is smoother-sounding, and fatter than the Chis in single-coil mode to my ears. But the Chis have that big growl, I agree the mids are more prominent, and they're better-suited to rounds. It depends on what kind of tone you're looking for.

not until april or later which my humbucked CS DJ gets here. I think I'm really going to like them... at the same time, I absolutely loved the sound of the dark stars in my old decade.

I love the Darstars too, but I think once you hear the ChiSonics, you will like them just as much. They totally KILL in the Decade!
