Hi Gary, good to see you talking about F Basses again. I remember that lovely flame maple cherry burst BN5 you used to post in the Delphi Forums years ago!

To your question, I find that F's are the best balancing basses on a strap that I've tried. I don't have a BN5, but my AC5 and VF5 balance perfectly. They make the stretch to the first fret less of a well... stretch than my other basses.

Hey firebass! yeah, I've been around since the Delphi Forum that Andre started. Crazy. That was a long time ago. Still laying it down low and funky. (Whenever possible)

Do any F Bass players take issue with how a BN5 hangs on a strap, in the sense that you feel the headstock hangs further away from your body than a Traditional style bass?

Same question for VF5? I haven't played one on a Strap and wonder what the distance is from your body to the first fret? I remember someone commenting to this afffect and thought I'd poll F Bass players.

Most users report that the headstock on the BN feels CLOSER to the body - not further away...

My new Fbass. Marcel from Fbass sent me pictures today and said that they were impressed with the way it turned out. I ordered it with a special fast/thin neck (thinner from front to back than the standard neck. Also an option you don't see much of is the exposed coil pieces with all satin finish. George wrote me and said that the bass plays like butta. It was mailed out last week and should be to Donovan at the Fret Spot soon. Just waiting for him to check it out and send it to me. Enjoy! The specs are myrtle burl top with alder body and flamed maple tone block. 5 pc maple/walnut neck Asian Ebony Fret Board.

Considering your post was #666 in this forum... I'd say you posted one BAD BN6! ;)

I just LOVE how those exposed pole pieces look!

Well, I love how the whole bass looks, but I'm especially taken by the exposed pole pieces.

Isn't that weird? All that beautiful wood, that immaculate craftsmanship, those 6 strings (as Zeus intended), and its the little round pieces of metal that catch my eye? Go figure.

Interesting question. I have an Fbass playing friend in Singapore who puts a little sheet of plastic (like what protects the screen of a smart phone) over his wooden pickup covers. He insists it doesn't change the tone and it keeps his pickup covers from being worn by his fingers playing over them.

Today's roster update welcomes sha975 and his very impressive BN6 to the family.

The ALDER body (and maple tone block) are just beautiful!

This bass has so many unique features... out of curiosity, how did you arrive at these specs? They are pretty exciting.

Donovan: I hope you are going to make a youtube video of this bass. It is very interesting.

I just asked and received-lol. Seriously I normally spec out my basses to be very unique and look for things that others don't have. Donovan sent me pictures of all the myrte tops they had and I just pictured this up in my minds eye! That's normally how I go about building. I never played a Fbass before so I'm looking forward to playing one for the very first time ever. As far as the thin neck goes, it's an absolute requirement when I order a bass. I can't stand thick necks.

I've played other dual coils exposed and non-exposed and I could never tell a difference. I just think they look really cool.
