Right, not unless that 5th string is C.@TapyTap - this one has a regular 34 scale neck. i had to get a 5 because i just sold my BN5 due to some major flooding here in the Philippines. needed the money for some house repairs and the sort. not a bad trade off at allthis thing is a beast! i also forget who advised me not to go with a short scale when it comes to 5 string basses...maybe George or Marcel.
If you can, invite the new owner of your BN5 to post his (or her) bass here so he can get a number too.
By the way, Karel, was it hard to part with your BN5? Wasn't that the bass you used to communicate your wedding vows?
I guarantee you, if I would have done something like that at my wedding, my wife would not let me part with that bass ever.

That is flabbergastingly good looking. Easily in the top five best Fs. Is that walnut for the neck lams?

Thanks much, in all honesty I have always loved the look of a Ken Smith Black Tiger but was never a fan of the sound of the Smith basses. What I had George build me was the look of a Smith but with the sound of our beloved F-Basses. The neck through design should get me the action I'm looking for too. I also had George hand carve a much thinner profile than he normally does on the BN6 again much like the neck on a Smith.
Dave the pick up covers and the finger ramp are being created with the wood cut from the crotch walnut top so it will match and blend with the top wings. Oh yeah and did I mention, exposed pole pieces....?

Totally has that Smith / Alembic vibe going on..I just love the look of a dark top on a neck-thru bass. It's such an iconic look, you can do no wrong with that combo.
I truly hate to steer any attention from that beautiful bass, but I've been thinking about the new Fbass cabinet.
I need a smaller, mid range rig really, so I'm willing to give the Fbass cabinet a try, but I'd want a light weight head to go with it as well.
I know a lot of guys here like the Tech Amp Puma 500,

but the TC Electronic RH450 won some great awards and endorsements when it came out in 2009 as well.

One reason I lean TC is the EQ presents. When you like to gig with several basses, it is really nice to be able to QUICKLY find the right settings for each bass. After all, you've kind of held things up a bit as it is with the fast change of basses, I really don't like to add to the wait by making do with fairly generic settings -- especially when I know a better tone is within reach of the gear.
Currently I use either a pedal with patches set for certain basses, or I use a small modeling amp (Roland) as a preamp and out it to the bigger rig or PA.
The pedal is huge and a pain though, and the Roland is far from perfect.
I'd love to have a preset for my acoustic sounding AC6 Classic, one for my ash bodied BN5, BN6 and Fodera, and then keep the third as always being tweaked for my BN6 LE replica or AC6 Signature.

Thanks much, I spent the last 6 months with that vision in my head and now it's nearly real. Missing and on back order is the custom gold bridge but they expect it within a month so the wait continues.
