My AC6 arrived yesterday, and my fingertips burn as I type this. I have not been able to put it down, and when I'm not playing, I'm imagining I'm playing.

For instance, I was walking in the mall yesterday (my wife said I have to go buy our 4 sons Christmas-themed ties, otherwise I would not have left the house), and as I heard the Christmas music over the p.a., I kept thinking how it would sound with the AC6 playing under it all.

I have some nice basses now, but I have never EVER been this obsessed with a new bass since I bought my first bass at age 17 (Fender Jazz).

I held off getting an AC6 for a long time. First, I kept doubting whether or not a fretless bass, which I don't play that often, was worth its price. Second, I doubted it was as tonally flexible as everyone was saying. How could it be, without a magnetic pickup near the neck?

Well, I now think it is totally worth its price and it really is flexible; I cannot believe it.

Perhaps what I love most is how it responds to VERY subtle things with my hands.

I'm guessing that the combination of the hollow chambers and the piezo pickup are responsible for that. Without touching a knob, I am able to make my AC6 sound really different just with my hands, especially through my Demeter head and Accugroove El Whappo cab.

I probably shouldn't make this too long, but I also have to say I have never heard a bass that sounds SO DIFFERENT from amp to amp. I've had the bass like 12 hours and I've already played it in a Roland combo, Fender combo, Carvin combo, a Peavey combo, a Bose P.A., and a Demeter head with an AccuGroove El Whappo bottom, (and I'm looking for a way to hook it up to my bluetooth ear piece!). Not only does my AC6 sound drastically different from rig to rig, but there are some tones I cannot get in some of them.

I try very hard not to have a favorite bass so that I can without bias choose whichever is the "right tool for the job," but that is out the window now. For awhile at least, I definitely have a favorite bass.

Has anyone tried flatwound or coated strings on an Alain Caron model F-Bass? I wonder how they would sound.

Tom, this post is part of what pushed me to purchase my AC6.

Reading your enthusiasm for your new AC6, both here and on Facebook, just brought me back to my first days and weeks with mine. I didn't mean for my post to deter from your bass, but to celebrate with it.

LOL..dont know if it will be nicer...different..yes...But from the first time I played my profs Fbass...it was love at first site..then months of research and saving...then I saw yours on TB...Boom ..I knew that it was it!!
