Tom...quick question, does EMG make Fbass's pickups to their specs?

I'm not sure if I understand the question.

I may have confused everyone, apologies... George makes Fbass pickups, not EMG. I think in the early days Michael Tobias taught George some stuff about pickups or preamps, but then George took it from there.

I posted that last post because from time to time people post here saying the BNx pickups output is quieter than what they are used to, just like these EMGs. Also BNx pickups are stacked like these EMGs for noise cancelling purposes, so I thought people would like to see what Ed Friedland has to say about pickups with these characteristics. Obviously the "Bass Whisperer" didn't complain about them; he thought the combination was excellent.

And while I'm thinking about it, one of the reasons George prefers the volume / volume control configuration is because the blend pot takes out some of the highs. Fbasses are built for tone, playability and great looks, so vol/vol is the default.

Okay, I need some advice.

My wife made me name all my basses names she could remember so that when I talk to her about them, she'll know what I'm talking about without me describing them to death, then going and getting it anyway.

I love this bass. It turns heads and pops eyes when I bring it out to play. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed].

All that said, I'm thinking about selling it, and probably for the dumbest of reasons. The space between the neck pickup and finger board is very narrow, and I have to alter my slap habits to slap this bass and I don't want to alter my slap habits.

I thought about putting Thomastic Infeld Jazz flats on him, that would remove the temptation to slap, but the action is so LOOOOW and perfect for Fbass strings that I don't want to mess with that.

In his place I think I would order an all white BN6 with an ebony board and a big, black bass clef sign on the body.

Is this just dumb?

How is it you don't have a club number?! You have an AC6 and a BN6 and you aren't in the club?! Or did I give you a number once and lose track of it when I rebuilt the list?

Heaven knows a spalted maple top BN6 would be great to own, particularly with a maple finger board given that all my 6ers have ebony, but I doubt it would get rid of my gas for a white bass with a black bass clef in it.

Lowering or removing the pickup would alter the tone which isn't what I want to do.

I'm increasingly using a fingerstyle with my thumb and three fingers and muting with my left hand like I would if I am slapping. What I would like to do is give myself wholly over to this technique so that I'm muting left handed and playing with all my fingers but my pinky on my right, whether I'm slapping or playing finger style.

But this bass discourages my right ring finger from getting involved fully. I've bruised the tip of that finger forgetting, but more importantly I do NOT want to chip the pickup cover with a finger nail, so from time to time I have this wild idea about selling and getting something with more space between the neck pickup and the fingerboard.
