I have been following the tread and I can't believe it is still here. That is one nice bass.

Haven't tried Hi Beams but just put on some Fat Beams. Basically Hi Beams with more bottom end right?

I don't know but I just put fat beams on my BN5 two days ago. I have used them before on other basses, but this is my first time using them on an Fbass. I am still trying to decide how much I like them. What do you think?

Not sure yet. According to this link the hi Beams and Fat Beams are essentially the same string just wound at a different speed. Invalid Link Removed

When I bought the bass it came with Dunlop Nickel strings which I didn't care for. So I called Donovan at Fretspot to order some FBass strings but he said George is now shipping the Ash VF5's with Fat Beams. Thus the reason I wondered what strings you all are using.

I have a question about my FBass. When I opened the control cavity, I noticed that there were two bars in there, one marked bridge and the other marked neck. What are they? They look almost big enough to be spare pickups!
