Club Fbass (Part 11!)

Hi F-players,
I do quite a bit of sub work with a band that tunes down to E flat, then I have to tune back up, and it seems to stress out my B string to the point where I am breaking a B string almost once a month, does anyone have some old B strings ( Fbass La Bella exposed core), that they would be willing to turn loose of? and if so what would you consider to be a fair price? thanks, John:bassist:

Maybe you need another bass to tunes down.:ninja:

You could try DR Drop Down Tuning Strings. They are built for that in mind.

Excitedly, I'm literally days away from sending my deposit to Dave @ Ultimate Basses to begin my new F Bass build. Dave was very cool with me. Even though my original email to him was a year ago, and F Bass prices increased slightly in 2013, he will still let me buy the bass at last year's price. In fact, since my posting a few weeks ago, Dave and I have exchanged a few messages. He is always quick to reply. Even though I have yet to send money, I already feel comfortable with this experience.

Ultimate Basses has their own YouTube page with demo clips. I gave him permission to let Jason Raso post a demo clip of my bass when it's finished.

I made my deposit today for my F Bass BN6 in Trans Blue NPF. Now, it's only a matter of when, not if I will become an official F Bass Club member. :) I believe my wait time will be between 2-3 months.

Tom, your pics serve as a testimony to FBass craftmanship ;)

I don't have a measuring tool any more accurate than what you saw in those photos... consequently this might be the best I can do for now:

Congrats...give yourself a mark on the calendar for 3.5 months that way...if it comes early...bingo!!
Waiting can be difficult...LOL...hang in there, it will totally worth it!!

I did not want to post this for sale feeler in the classified section as I'm not yet sure I can do this. Rather I thought to just post it here so that my fellow F-Bass brothers could weigh in. So here is the deal, a recent bad business situation has me in a spot where I may need to consider selling my new customs BN6 that I think you will all remember. Here is a YouTube intro that George did for this very rare and one of a kind bass.

I have not really thought this through as yet so I'm not going to post an asking price just yet. If you run through the custom build app on the F-Bass website you will end up with a suggested retail of over $8,000 and there are some items that I had George do, like exposed pole pieces that are not listed. George did give me a little bit of a deal on this build as I also had an AC5 in the shop for a total refurb at that same time.

So all I'm interested in hearing from you guys is if there is any interest in this bass from my fellow F-Bass fans. It was born in August of 2012 and is in factory new condition.

I welcome all your thoughts and comments....
I am very sorry to see this post. I hate to see good people in tough spots, and forced to make tough choices like this. I would definitely be very interested -- however I really shouldn't. Wow, what a bass though, so don't be too surprised if you get a PM from me.

Wow, it is a 6-string player's paradise here with these beautiful basses coming up for sale. My condolences to you too.

It's disappointing to have to do this, but the circumstances are not completely negative. I need to finance a move to Boston to take a job there. Ideally, I'll be able to buy this bass back someday, or maybe get that fretted AC6 I've been dreaming about since someone here posted pictures...

This is sort of a time-critical sale, so if someone were on the fence about making an offer, I would encourage them to go ahead. They might be pleasantly surprised...

Hello fellow FBassers. While perusing a canadian classified Ad site, I came upon this marvel : Title says it all : someone in Montreal is selling this one of a kind 6 string FBass headless-fretless. A must see for any FBass fan ! :hyper:

I'm pretty sure this link will make you drool ...

Yes, sorry.

Quick explanation...

I keep the club roster on some webspace I pay for, webspace which is supposedly backed up each night.

Well, I've had a ton of problems with the host then one day my site was completely gone. They don't seem to have a backup for me.

It took me DAYS to create that roster the first time, going back through all the posts so I could have links to everyone's club intro photos. This time I can jumpstart that by going to the last time I posted the roster here, but still I think it will take me hours to do it and I haven't had time lately.

I will try to get to it this weekend though and get the roster caught up.

Hey Tom

Thank you so much for the relentless effort in keeping up and giving out club numbers, even in this kind of 'down times'! Really appreciate it! :) Thanks again!

Man... Sorry to hear that. No worries here... No rush... The bass isn't going anywhere!

Thanks for being understanding guys; hopefully I can make time tomorrow.

He is reviewing new EMG Jazz bass pickups, but because they are stacked for noise cancelling, like Fbass BN pickups are, and have a low volume output due to wire wrapping decisions, similar to Fbass pickups as well, I thought you guys would like to hear Ed's explanation of why these are good decisions -- both for EMG and Fbass.
