I guess it´s not that bad, because you got that little wooden thing, so you can comfortably play on the end of the fretboard and produce a very similar sound which is also very deep and acoustic.
Actually, I've removed that little wooden thing and replaced it with a big wooden thing...

I used that older photo because it looked more like the photo you posted, but this is how the bass looks now.

The ebony ramp was installed using tape on the SIDES (not under) so that it is taped to the side of the magnetic pickup and the underside of the finger board. This way, if I decide to remove the ramp (to replace it with a see through plexi ramp), it won't leave any marks on the finish underneath.

EDIT: BTW, I don't know why the bass looks blotchy in the photo on the left side. It is not like that in real life. It's time for some new photos probably, which I may as well be doing since my thumb and carpal tunnel aren't letting me play right now anyway.

hello I m news on forum and I m french.
what is the model of this case?
Thanks
That model is an Fbass AC5 - Alain Caron's signature bass. This model has a redwood top, which is an upcharge, and a second magnetic pickup which also is an upcharge, but well worth it in my opinion.

TRANSLATION:

Ce modèle est un AC5 Fbass - basse signature Alain Caron. Ce modèle a un haut séquoia, qui est un upcharge, et un capteur magnétique seconde qui est aussi un upcharge, mais en vaut la peine à mon avis.

I got my GL jazz out and restrung it today, and it reminded me of some messing around I had done years back when trying to cop a similar tone with my BN5. The GL had a killer recorded tone, but was always lacking live. Anyway, the closest I got was favoring the neck pu slightly, which jives with what Narud and Ken were doing by raising their neck pu (of course they already have 70s spacing). My theory then was that the 70s spacing put the back pu closer to the bridge, where the string vibrates less, hence the tone was slightly more from the neck pu.

Jason, your band is simply amazing... I wish i can play the bass like you~!

Man, I'd love to get Jason on a VF5 and see what he sounds like. :)

lol...you guys are way too nice! The rest of the guys in that group are so good that all I have to do is keep time and it sounds good.

I'm looking forward to checking out Ken's VF5 sometime very soon. We'll have to record it and post some clips! :bassist:

VERY nice!

Today's roster update welcomes Romu and his eye catching BN5 to the fellowship of the F.

We are approaching 100 club members. Maybe we should have given out a club number for each bass, then we'd be over 100... ;)
