How about maple with a black guard? That's one that was swimming around in my head for a bit.
I'm really in love with the rosewood, vintage style with clay face dots. Also I think I specified red tort guards on the two blue basses, but that's fine.

Man, I've been enjoying the beautiful California sunshine, but one thing I've not gotten any of is some F Bass action! These pics help out a lot until the NAMM show starts - then I can truly scratch that itch!

It wont have the half-moon pads (I think George added those). Also, the handle is not in the middle of the case, so it's a little ackward to carry.

I just had to post this very nice picture of the back of my somewhat unusual VF5 from the FBass website. It is really cool.... kind of a hybrid neck joint... same access to the lower strings, but with a bit more wood and a bit more classic feel and look at the top of the joint, and that really beautiful skunk stripe in the 'one piece' neck.
I'm really enjoying this instrument a lot. I'm not sure if the slight difference in design really impacts the tone, but I dig the whole thing, and even if it is just for 'looks', I dig it!

I think Protec has something like that and the come with the little half moon cushions.

+1 One of my Celinders came in a Protec case that was kind of triangular (not the Contego or whatever that is that George uses now, which IMO is actually a nicer case), and came with the cushions that you could glue in place depending on the bass. It was an 'OK' case quality-wise.
I already installed my beloved Duncan dual action straplocks. That guarantees at least 6 months

and man, i thought once the stambaugh came in id be done spending on gear and then i see ernie ball is releasing a stingray 5 that actually looks like a stingray with a 2 band pre. im cooked.
