Anyone have experience with New Jersey Guitar and Bass Center?

Yes, I consider it my "small, local shop". As soon as I read your post asking about a VF5, and before I scrolled further down to see you asking about this particular shop, my 1st thought was I know Jay has a VF5 hanging in his shop.

Much of what you see in my profile for current & previously owned gear was purchased in his shop. I know he ships all around the world, and from my experience he has some of the best post-purchase service I've come across for any product.

I'm heading there later today to (probably) plunk down some $$ for another bass.

You can p.m. me if you have any other questions. I have no affiliation with this shop other than being a customer. I've played that burst VF5 and it's a very nice instrument. I almost bought the natural BN5 that he also has.

Thanks for your input Amp'd!!! After a few phone conversations, I sent him the payment yesterday via mail and he should be receiving it today!!! So he should be shipping the bass tuesday and I imagine it will be at my doorstep by next Friday!
I saw a VF5 with a maple board on his website and was going to ask him about it- come to find out he no longer had it BUT had a VF5 with a rosewood fretboard- which is what I really wanted to begin with!!

VF owners, what do you think of the mid control? I am finding that when boosted it just makes the bass sound a bit muddy. Perhaps this is because it was developed for the other Fbass pickups. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

You'll have to play around with both amp and bass mid to really get want you'll looking for. I think it's boost only.

OK! The bass has been shipped and will be at my door sometime this friday!!! VF5 sunburst with rosewood fretboard!!!
I will post some better pics this weekend!!! I called Fbass to order a strap and guess who answered! George himself - we had a great conversation!
My BN6 is great and is my #1 axe! It will be nice to have a 5 string of the same caliber!

My new F Bass BN6 (Satin Blue NPF) arrived yesterday. I celebrated Canada Day twice, July 1 and July 2. I spent many hours enjoying this beautiful sounding, fantastic piece of art. When I first unzipped & opened the F Bass gigbag, I could faintly smell the fresh paintjob. Nice packaging touch of inserting plastic bubble wrap between the strings/frets and the pickups. I don't recall receiving an instrument packaged so well. Being an NPF finish, the woodgrains feel wonderful. I love the curvature of upper cutaway horn. I also ordered an F Bass/Levy's strap. The strap buttons on the BN6 are huge! Judging by the struggle I had to get the strap on, I will not need to install straplocks. This is my first bass with a maple fretboard. Attack (response time) is immediate! The angled body at the bolt-on joint presents an extremely accessible upper register.

Every picture I try to take with my iPhone makes it look purple. (My music room has dark red walls, so that's most likely the reason. I'll try other areas of the house for better pics.) For pics, I'll just refer you to my last post back on Post 185. http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f8/club-fbass-thread-12-a-983153/index10.html#post14490988

I would like an F Bass Club number please, Tom7.

Would love to see a video of that bass! I have been messing with the idea of possibly doing a high quality video to show how awesome my VF5 is.

UltimateBasses.com the retailer through whom I placed my order, recorded a demo video which they should be uploading to their YouTube channel soon. The demo was performed by Jason Raso ([Invalid or Expired Link Removed]), who is an excellent musician, so you will see someone who knows how to play. I'll drop back here with the link once it's been uploaded.

(Personally, I'm terrified to post anything of myself on YouTube, seeing even my favorite musicians get bashed frequently.)
