Thanks for sharing. I know this probably sounds corny but to me art is not just what these instruments make, they are themselves works of art. I love seeing all the different configurations and finishes. If anyone else wants to share pics of their 'loved ones' even if they're not new, please I'd love to see them.

I’ve tried other strings, but, I find that the Fbass exposed core provide such a nice clear fundamental, and the feel and tension are right as I like.

The B string on this bass is unbelievably clear and balanced...I never even consider buying another 5-string. I’ve had 5 Fbasses, including two other BN5’s, and this one smoked them all. She is a sexy beast!!

Cool. I've had my BN5 for less than a year and haven't tried anything but the Fbass exposed cores. Seem to be doing the trick for me so far. Interesting point that not all your Fbasses were created equal.
P.s. yup she is a sexy beast

Hey, I have a quick question.. and yeah I tried to find it though search.. why do people go for the standard bn over the vf? What are some major differences in terms of sound and flexibility with controls etc. A base model of either is the same price.. just curious

The VF is Fbass’ version of a traditional/vintage Fender Jazz Bass.
It’s 34” scale, has single coils and a slightly different body style than the BN, though both are pretty similar.

With the BN you get a more modern bass and slightly more versatility. You have 34.5” scale, great B string, and most importantly dual coil, humbucking pickups with a coil tap switch for single mode as well.
BN is pretty much a “do it all” bass.

Both the preamps on the VF and BN are the same. Active/Passive. 3 band eq.
Only difference is the BN can coil tap.

having had both a BN and a VF, if i bought another F and could only have one, it would be a BN. That is the iconic F bass vibe, IMO
That's interesting. Right now I own both a BN and a VF, and being only able to buy one more Fbass, I chose to get another VF. In fairness the two VFs are very different. One is a 60s pj with a rosewood board. The other on order is a 70s jj with a maple board.
