Club Fbass (thread 13)

Thanks for sharing. I know this probably sounds corny but to me art is not just what these instruments make, they are themselves works of art. I love seeing all the different configurations and finishes. If anyone else wants to share pics of their 'loved ones' even if they're not new, please I'd love to see them.

I endorse that. More pics........YES PLEASE!!

That's interesting. Right now I own both a BN and a VF, and being only able to buy one more Fbass, I chose to get another VF. In fairness the two VFs are very different. One is a 60s pj with a rosewood board. The other on order is a 70s jj with a maple board.
Its a preference thing, for sure. I just think the BN's are more iconically "F", the recipe that put them on the map. Kinda like Roscoes with the spalted purpleheart fingerboards and the Bart/Bart electronics, or (arguably) MTD's with tulipwood bodies and wenge necks and boards. But of course, YMMV!

You're 100% correct. When I think of Fbass I think first of 'Fabiana' my BN5. From its scale length to its sculpted body and pick up covers, everything about screams custom, modern Fbass. Although if I were a fretless guy I think the AC signature would say Fbass to me first.

If i had the bread, I'd love to order a BN6 with 17mm spacing, and a late 90's BN neck profile. thats my jam. I'm such a "used bass' buying kinda guy, I'd be scared to get a price quote on those specs!

that is drop dead gorgeous. Love the blue + birdseye.

But blackwood knobs for me. ;)

Those silver knobs do look nice with the silver hardware! Of course, I do prefer black hardware and blackwood knobs, but either way you slice it, BN's look great in blue - especially with a birdseye board!

That first line says it all, ' if I had the bread....' You wouldn't believe how much time I've spent on their website building dream bass after dream bass. Reality can be cruel sometimes. It sucks when I have to face the fact that they will remain just dreams.

yep, hard to justify when they pop up used for around 2500 without a top. But I think a BN6 with a macassar board and 17mm spacing would be perfect. If my old one wasnt 19, I'd still have it.

This was my collection but now the BNF6 is hanging on Bassjuju's wall. Hopefully her replacement, a VF5 jj will be finished in about 6 or7 months

So, I am going to add that while the VF is certainly a jazz bass... it is in a class of its own! I love the tone options with the Aggie HC pups and the feel is wonderful. It's light and just seems to be built to be played. The tone is the tone I'd hoped to get form other basses. It cuts through the mix without sounding harsh or too loud. Growl, punch, or blended... it's up to you. Oh, did I mention the finish is drop dead gorgeous and the fit is impeccable. I have 3 of the 5 F models and hope to have at least one more someday. I have other nice basses, but nothing else compares to the F.

I know you are going to love the JJ when you get it, if only because how great they are, but I'm blown away by that BNF. I am just beginning to figure out how to get it to really open up in the mix. I played it church 2 Sundays ago and the tone was amazing. I absolutely love it. I have the daily first world problem of trying to decide which one gets played at the next service.

As fun as the custom online builder is, The prices listed there are out of date and incorrect. Not saying your dream build still won’t be very expensive, but the only way currently to accurately know is to contact Marcel directly.
