Club Fbass (thread 13)

You might also like this one that is being finished up. This spalted maple top was bleached ten times to make it look this white.View attachment 3022410 or this trans white BN. Just gorgeous!View attachment 3022411

Where did you get this photo? Is this bass for sale somewhere? The string spacing looks tighter than 19 mm.

That photo was taken on Monday when I was at the shop having George set up my BN5. That's Marcel's hand holding the bass. I believe he said that it was heading to a South American dealer but don't quote me, I don't recall exactly where he said for sure.

WOW!! That's nothing short of incredible. I have a spalted maple Elrick that's natural but this bleached version is amazing. Did you notice how the spalting pattern on the body matches the pattern on the pickups - masterful!!
Marcel: If you don't want to go to the bother of shipping to South Africa it would find a nice home here in Vancouver -lol

Hey, Dave from Ultimate Basses sent me pictures of my completed VF6-PJ Fretless! I guess I’ll get a new tracking number this week.

By the way, very clever of him placing my FBass with Aguilar pickups in front of a beautiful Aguilar amp.

Edit: I added a 3rd photo that was on the Instagram of Ultimate Basses. Thanks for the heads up @BassJuju

I emailed Marcel quickly to thank him, George and all at FBass. I also asked if he took any final pictures before the bass was picked up. I’ll follow up again if they managed to take some.

I didn’t know that. I rarely use Instagram. I’ll have to check if I’m following FBass. I am following their Facebook page though.

I found it. You meant Ultimate Basses on Instagram. He posted a 3rd pic I didn’t receive.

Cool 60s position pups Believe me those picture don't do it justice. I saw it a couple weeks ago, not assembled but still when you see that blue in person you'll grin like a giddy school girl! Congrats!

Thanks! I'm already excited.

Actually I was tempted but resisted the urge to email Marcel again last week, as I didn’t want to become a pest. Then I started wondering if you were planning to visit FBass again.

I’m both happy and sad that I don’t live close enough to visit. I’d love seeing all the beauty, but I don’t need that kind of cravin’ flung on me.

I know the feeling living here in New Jersey. I visited the shop once in 2003, a year after I got my BN5. If I lived closer, that could be dangerous.

It's nothing but good being so close. When one of my beauties needs a setup, George himself does his magic. When my builds are complete, I drive over and pick them up, take them for s test drive. If needed George will adjust the action so it's just right for me. No waiting and checking tracking numbers. If I want to see and hear the difference between an AC classic and AC signature, or any of their modes, I take them off the wall and noodle around. However many great basses are in the shop, there are always way more online that make the cravings strong. So where I stand half an hour is too far, I'd rather the shop was next door!

Jealous is not a good enough word for what I am.
